| The IBC Marlins, led by GM Kegan LeFort, are supposed to be a threat in 2004. In the power rankings, the interviews, and in general conversation, he's been in mentioned among the up and coming. Is the team for real? Or are the Marlins not as good as the hype would suggest. Find out what Kegan thinks below. Gabe: Alright. First question. How do you think your team will perform next season? Kegan: I feel i have some real good young players that will be able to put up decent numbers, I hope we can compete at the top of the NL east, and hey you never know what can happen. G: What division looks to be the toughest in the IBC in 2003? K: I would have to say the AL east, with Bren and the BoSox picking up Zito and then Krod they look stacked. Also the Blue Jays and the D Backs have very talented teams, that could cause trouble for Boston. I also feel that the NL Central will be tough as expected, especially if the Reds live up to their hype. G: What division do you think will be the weakest? K: Well the AL central by far is the weakest in my eyes... a couple of decent young teams but none of them will be able to have a huge impact in the playoffs. G: Who's got the best team in the league right now? K: I have to say the BoSox just because of his top 3 in the rotation. Pedro,Lowe,Zito who are the top 3 in Cy young in MLB should have huge seasons next year and then he still has Nomar and Adam Dunn to put up great numbers in lineup G: If you had to guess who next year's playoff teams are, who would you say? K: I'd say Red Sox,Angels,Chi Sox and the Blue Jays in the AL. In the NL im gonna say SF Giants, Reds,Pittsburgh, and the Mets G: What teams look to be stuck in the cellar next season? K: Obviously the Twins( they should be decent in 3 years), Padres,Cleveland and Seattle G: What do you think of the IBC's power rankings? Are they accurtate in your opinion? K: lol i feel they do a good job in pissing people off which is always good, I feel they are accurate for the most part, maybe if they went more in depth it could be better G: Are there any rules/ibc policies that you think need to be changed? K: There are no really urgent things that need to be addressed but it would be nice to get the whole injury rule straightened out, possibly they could set a commitiee for injuries as they did for the trade process. G: We've been in a lot of sims together. is this one the best? K: I'd have to say yes...this is so well run from top to bottom and the GM's are always active. Also a great web site that gives you all the info you would need G: You came into the sim mid-season...what advice would you give the new GMs on getting started with their teams? K: Dont fall for the first advice you get lol. Depending on what team you get I'd try to get younger first if you dont plan on winning this season. Also work your team the way you want to...dont listen to the other GMs trying to tell you how. G: Is your team better than when you got it? K: I think so..when I came into the league the Marlins were a mess and the old GM made some horrible moves. I feel that I've made some good moves to make my team younger and more talented G: Have you developed any rivalries? K: Not as of yet. I feel I have a rivalry with you to an extent of who gets the better deal out of our trades. Also JP just because he constantly talks about how the Red Sox in MLB suck. Which is not cool G: Have you struck up any friendships with GMs? K: I feek that I am friends with all the GMs, they are all good guys who are cool to know. G: What players performance is going to serioulsy effect your teams performace as a whole? K: probaly Joe Kennedy and Josh Foggs because they are my top 2 pitchers and if they have good years my team could also. Josh Phelps is very important too hes the guy I expect to be my big hitter G: How do you think your team will fare in the winter league? K: well I dont know, I hope we can do well but im not sure, I cant wait for it to get started to see how my team looks G: How do you feel about Joe being fired? K: I feel that it was the right decision. He was way to big of a distraction. He caused more trouble then he did to help solve it. G: What positions will you be looking to acquire during the offseason? K: I need to fill the hole in my bullpen, and also I would like to acquire a good SS G: Are there any features (Features - interviews, breakdowns, etc.) you would like to see added to the IBC? K: I would like to see possibly a GM of the Month voted on by the other GMs, that would be cool. G: What trade do you wish you never did? K: I really can't say I regret any trades I've made, I am happy with all of them. G: Alright, any final comments then? K: I just want to say how great of a league this is and I want to thank Bren not only for running it but for also for trading me Josh Pheps for basically nothing! |
