NOTE - This analysis is strictly the opinion of the Red Sox GM, and was done as objectively as possible and stricly for the fun of it
Team History/Profile
Youth and Gambling built for tomorrow.  Thats Josh Morgans Modus Operandi.  He drafted very young, very high.  Typical oakland Players are Kazuhisa Ishii, Bobby Hill and Jason Simontacchi.  High risk because of their age and/or foreign experience.  To his very high credit, while many of these players may not produce a lot in the IBC this year, next year they could be exceptional.

Rotation
The teams leaders in wins are Weathers and Stewart with 6 each, but theyre middle relievers.  Not a good sign for the starters this season.  Wood is having a good season at 5-2, but hes the only starter with a winning record.  Not a good thing.

Bullpen
So far, the pitching staffs greatest strength is the pen.  Hernandez has pitched well as closer, but hasnt had a lot of saves (6).  Only two relievers, Soriano and Stanton, have losing records so far.

Lineup
Not a power lineup.  Carlos Delgado leads the team with 13 Hrs.  Ichiro leads the team with 15 doubles thanks to his incredible speed.  He also has 33 sbs and is very critical to this teams success.  When Bobby Hill grows up, next year or the year after, they could be a hell of a 1-2 punch.  But who will drive them in?

Bench
Another shallow bench with only four batters to choose from. Hill should probably be playing as hes hitting better than several other starters.  He needs to learn some patience at the plate though as he has a .332 OBP.

Fielding
A pretty solid team defensively, though Hall is a liability behind the plate.  The outfield and 1b are particularly strong.

Minors
No surprise that this team has a well built minor league foundation.  Josh probably relishes having Simontacchi and Prior enter the sim as their both blowing away the MLB.

Overall Grade
B- 3 games back in a mediocre AL West.  This team scares me next year.

Strengths/weaknesses

Strengths: Youth, especially young pitching
Wekness: Slugging.  get the Tool Man over here for a dose of More Power!

Prescription
Built for next year, I wouldnt mess with this teams pitching.  I wouldnt want to fae any of them when theyre ready next year.  Ichiro is the most frightening hitter on the team which does not speak well at the moment.  Hes a great hitter, but this lineup needs some power for next year.  A home run hitter acquired soon this year will likely push him into the playoffs for this year.
