Team History -  Inherited the former Atlanta team following the 02 Season.

Lineup - Not a ton of pop in this line-up, Green used to provide quite a presence but he's gone now.  Chen could be quite a good hitter if he finds a position to fill.  Phillips is an excellent up and coming ss but he can't be expected to put up large numbers yet (though who knows).  Ensberg was a disappointment in the MLB, but his carry-over makes him a force at least for one season.

Bench - Pretty shallow, no back-up catcher or middle infielders.  Not much able to come up from the minors yet either.

Defense - Rowand is quite the defensive wiz, phillips has potential, but moreso if he moves to 2B.  No real liabilites though, and any time you don't have something bad, it's a good thing.

Rotation - Lots of injury history here.  Juan Pena is the kid who coulda been after blanking the yankees in his first two starts and then disappearing to the DL.  Paxton crawford sat on a glass, Jon Rauch has had problem and Ashby is kind of Old.  ON the plus side if these guys are healthy they could be ok, none of the young guys are to old to not have another shot left, especially Rauch who has drawn comparisons to Randy Johnson.

Bullpen - A decent Pen, but unremarkable aside from Mesa who had an excellent season in 02.  No craptacular pitchers really though so once again, by not hurting himself he helps himself.

Minors - Blanco is a great Tools player who could be great once he learns to use those tools to actually play.  Shoppach isn't an exceptional catcher, but he has good plate discipline and better defense so he'll earn playing time eventually.  Ferguson is a personal favorite for no particular, but I think he has a good chance to be successful on the major league level.  Seung Song was once the pitching Jewel of the Bosox system (not saying much) bt also has a definite chance of contributing, possibly soon.

Grade/Prescription - C+  A good foundation laid, if he can get in a couple really good players, this could be a pretty good team, unfortunatly he plays in the Wild NL West so 'Pretty Good' may not be good enough.  A change of scenery might also be in order...
