2/1/04 Draft Maels Rodriguez (3); Lou Pamisano (17); Jimmy Barthmaier (64); Chris Ray (70)
11/11/03 - Knuckle Down 24 yr old Charlie Zink, the top Knuckleball prospect in the country, possibly the world, was today acquired by the Sox for Hanley Ramirez in a deal with the evil NY Yankees.  With the acquisition of A-Rod and Young, Ramirez was blocked at the major league level.  Zink was relieved to learn of the deal and that he could retain posession of his immortal soul...
11/05/03 - Out with the Old, In with the Young
Boston today traded Nomar, Dunn and Pedro martinez to acquire the games' best hitter, Alex Rodriguez and the best rookie pitcher in 2003, Brandon Webb.
In related News, the Sox announced they will retire Nomar, Dunn and Pedro's uniform numbers in appreciation of their contributions to the team.

11/03/03 - Second Base, New Strength
The Sox finally acquired a solid 2B in Michael Young.  Young hits for a good average, some doubles power and has prett good D.  "We think of him as a younger, more modile Todd Walker" said GM Bren Dillon "Probably the most underrated 2B in baseball"
10/31/03 - Re-Arming Time for the Champs
The Sox packaged WS MVP Manny Ramirez with ROY snub Jesus Medrano for Japanese pitcher Hideo Nomo and 3B Troy Glaus
10/24/03 - BOSTON WINS THE WORLD SERIES
The IBC Red Sox tonight won their first World Series in 11 innings in Boston over the Arizona Diamondbacks. August pick-up Manny Ramirez was named the Series MVP and Brad Wilkerson drove in Nomar Garciaparra to win it.  Members fo the front office were said to be too drunk and deliriously happy to immediately comment
*UPDATE* The Sox-Cubs deal for Sosa has been rejected for illegal loaning of players.
8/5/03 Bombs Away
A day after acquiring Sammy "Fat Man" Sosa, the Sox traded for Manny "Little Boy" Ramirez when Toronto failed to surrender at news of Sammy's acquisition.
"I haven't seen a midseason GM job this good since The Great Theo Epstein.  Heck, I've never seen anyone this good" Said former oakland GM Billy Beane.  Former GM's Brian Cashman and JP Ricciardi promptly agreed as did old guard member John Scheurholz.

8/04/03 Corkin' the Lineup
The Red Sox today acquired Legend and future HoFer Slammin Sammy Sosa.
"Sammy really solidifes the heart of our lineup.  Nomar, Dunn and Sosa give us a great 3-4-5" Sox owner and GM Bren "The Brain" Dillon.
"We feel this move counters Toronto's recent deals very well.  We're very confident we can take the AL Beast now.  yes, we really ransomed our future, but so what?  Boston fans have earned a World Series parade."

6/28/03 Outfield Shifts
Boston has shifted around it's outfield of late, moving Larry Walker for Brad Wilkerson a few weeks ago and today trading Luis matos and Cliff Lee for Steve Finley.
"Finley gives us a big upgrade offensively from Matos.  We've moved Mike Redmond down to the 9 hole and anytime you have a guy with a .290/.353 avg/obp and 21 doubles in your last slot, you know you're doing well.  We feel we have 5 or more slots in the order where we can expect 40 doubles or more this season."
The Sox eagerly await the return of Chad Fox, Tim Spooneybarger and Casey Fossum from the disabled list.

4/9/03 A Deal a Week Keeps the Jays at Bay...
This seems to be the Red Sox current philosophy as they made a swap with the NY Mets, both teams sending a reliever and a pair of prospects.
The Sox acquired stand-out reliever Paul Shuey and prospects Ben Broussard and Ryan Hannaman. Shuey is tough on both lefties and righties and is three years younger than Wiliams who was surrendered in the deal.  Hannaman is a very good young lefty starter and Broussard is an MLB ready 1B/OFer.
The Sox traded off Mike Williams, Jason Stokes and Shin-Soo Choo.

4/9/03 Wee Hour Deal Leaves Jays in Dust
The Red Sox sacrificed three impressive young lefties in Horacio Ramirez, Mike Gosling and Sean Burnett in the small hours of the morning to acquire Kevin Brown.
"Kevin gives us an unmatchable 1-4 in our rotation as long as he's healthy" Sox GM B DIllon said between yawns "We're excited to have him here, now leave me alone so I can get some sleep."
Brown seemed very excited to be joining a contender particularly one where he isn't expected to be The Man,  instead just having to make his pitches and take his turn.
No comment was available from north of the border.

3/31/03 Millwood and Fox flying in
Kevin Millwood and Chad Fox will bolster the Red Sox pitching staff this week as Vicente Padilla and Randy Winn head off to Kansas City.
"Kevin gives us a reliable guy behind Lowe.  We had to give up more than Johnny Estrada for him, but he's worth it.  Fox kills lefties in spite of throwing from the right side and may end up as our first option against lefties."
In other news, Derek Jeter went down for at least a month.  Tears could be heard falling all the way up in Toronto...
3/29/03 - Sox Acquire Williams, Sign Ramirez
The Red Sox traded Carlos Pena and Sun Woo Kim for Mike Williams this week.
Wiliams strengthens a bullpen which had raised a few concerns in the front office.
Also signed this week were relievers Mike Bukvich and P.J. Bevis and young stud starter Horacio Ramirez.
Bukvich has closer stuff to go along with Williams and Spooneybarger.  Bevis has been used mostly as a starter but turned the corner as a minor league closer last season with a 2.67 era in 70 IP.

3/14/03 - Sox Bring Up Rookies
Mark Teixeira, Kevin Youkilis, Todd Linden, Mike Gosling, Mike Neu, Arnoldo Munoz and Brian Bruney will all be available this year.  T-Rex was immediately annointed the starting 3B with Youkilis stepping into the DH slot and Millar moving to 1B.  Mike Gosling will get first shot at the #5 rotation slot.
As a result, Carlos Pena has been placed on the trade block in search of a 2B.

2/28/03 - Sox Sign Neu, Cuban
The Red Sox have signed hot young Cuban Gary Galvez, who slipped under the radar at draft time and former Rule V pick Mike Neu, a promising young pitcher with a 3:1 K/BB ratio in the minors.  Neu should be able to contribute this season and Galvez would have been a first or second round draft pick.
2/14/03 - FREE AT LAST!
After many weeks of waiting and negotiating Kevin Millar is returning to the US and will be playing for the IBC Red Sox in 2003.  "Kevin gives us at least 5 players with .300avg .350obp potential," GM Bren Dillon was quoted as saying " possibly as many as 7 if things fall right."  This is a big lift for us, knowing that Kevin will be there."
Going International
Sox GM B. Dillon has gone international in his talent search, signing C/1B Dave Nilsson of Australia as well as 1B Seung Yeop Lee and OF Hae-Yeong Ma both of Korea.  Both are sluggers, Lee led the league with 44hr's  and is only 26 yrs old.  Ma is 32 and hit 33 hr's, both hit .323 last year
Oceans Apart
An entire Nation stands between the Red Sox and their latest prize.  The Beantown Boys have acquired the American rights to Kevin Millar, but he has a contract with the Chiunichi Dragons, which he intends to honor unless they allow him out of it.
GM Bren Dillon is relying on special assistant Theo Epstein to deliver Millar from the Land of the Rising Sun.  "I have faith in Theo, he knows what he's doing, besides, anyone who can rock that hard has to be good.
Hibernating in a Winter of Discontent  In spite of some excellent off-season deals, several questions swirl around the team, mainly regarding the status and potential of Gosling, Youkilis and especially Teixeira.  "We're going to pull out of the trade market for the most part" said the Sox GM "Making trades right now without knowing whether Mark, Kevin, Mike and Arnoldo will even be able to play would not be well advised.  We're still going to entertain offers, but for the most part we're in a holding pattern until we know whether we can play these guys or whether we have to replace them."
