In January 2005, The Intermountain Rail System introduced a new paint scheme. Designed to give a fresh, modern look to the railway, this scheme was quickly embraced by the local railfan community and dubbed the "wave of the future" scheme. Although the basic colours remain the same, the application has been changed dramatically to feature the railway's mountain range logo. In fact, even the zig-zag pattern of the red stripe is derived from the staggered pattern of the two mountains in the logo. The scheme incorporates 3M's reflective Scotchlite material as a safety measure, and rumours already aboud of a new "Operation Lifesaver" version forthcoming in the next few months. Stay tuned....
