HAPPY THOUGHTS

A
friend hears the song in my heart and sings it to me when my memory fails.

A WISH FOR YOU
Star light, star bright,
first star I see tonight.
A wish I make this very night,
a wish that all my friends sleep tight.
A wish that all good dreams come true,
May God bless everything they do.
A wish that every day they'll wake
to find a helping hand to take.
Someone to trust, someone to hold,
someone to truly call "friend".
For days they cry, for days they pout
A wish for peace without a doubt.
A wish of joy, and peace, and love,
for these are all gifts from above.
For everything we do together,
I pray that our friendship will last forever.
"Forever Young"
Youth
is not a time of life - it is a state of mind, it is a temper of the will, a
quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions, a predominance of courage
over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over love of ease.
Nobody
grows old by merely living a number of years. People grow old only by deserting
their ideals. Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the
soul. Worry, doubt, self-distrust, fear and despair - these are the long, long
years that bow the head and turn the growing spirit back to dust.
Whether
they are sixteen or seventy, there is in every being's heart the love of wonder,
the sweet amazement at the stars and star like things and thoughts, the undaunted
challenge of events, the unfailing childlike appetite for what is to come next,
and the joy and the game of life.
You
are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your
self-confidence, as old as your fear, as young as your hope, as old as your
despair. When the wires are all down and all the innermost core of your heart is
covered with the snows of pessimism and the ice of cynicism, then you are grown
old indeed.
But so long as your heart receives messages of beauty, cheer, courage, grandeur
and power from the earth, from man and from the Infinite, so long you are young.

PRICELESS GIFTS
Life holds so many priceless things
The falling rain--the wind that sings
Each star on a high--a big full moon
And sunbeams dancing in your room.
The river as it rushes on
A sunset when day is gone
No wealth can buy a mountain tall
These priceless things belong to all.
An autumn tree lends beauty rare
With leaves piled deep most everywhere
As nature wears a glowing smile
to make each day a day worthwhile.
Could anything be quite as dear.
As laughing children that we hear
The gift of friendship that is ours
The miracle of growing flowers.
Each magic moment--treasured time
These priceless gifts are yours and mine...
THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE A FRIEND
The only way to have a friend
Is to be one yourself;
The only way to keep a friend
Is to give from that wealth.
For friendship must be double fold,
Each one must give his share
Of feelings true if he would reap
The blessings that are there.
If you would say, "He is my friend,"
Then nothing else will do
But you must say, "I am his friend,"
And prove that fact to be true.
