A few years ago, when Matthew was nominated for best lead actor - his assistant submitted him for the wrong category - he refused to be nominated in that category, because "there's no lead actor, we're all supporting actors".
Now a few years later, the six friends decide to submit themselves for the lead actor/actress category.
Is this fair agaisnt Matthew? No!
Another thing we should notice:
At the time Matthew Perry first was nominated, he was the star of the show. Everything was about Chandler and Monica. At that same time, rumours were spread that David Schwimmer wasn't happy with his part on the show. According to some magazines, David Schwimmer wanted to become the lead actor of the show. He didn't want Ross to be a loser, he wanted bigger and more serious storylines for Ross. He obviously forgat that he had been the center of the show for years, whith Ross and Rachel's romance. But now that it was time for other actors to get the attention, he wasn't happy with Ross's small part on the show. The writers, who already wanted to make the sixth season about Chandler and Monica, tried to satisfy David with the job of director. That's the truth according to some (reliable) magazines and news sources.
Now we've got the facts: David has directed several episodes, Ross is in the spotlights again.
The first year that Chandler and Monica aren't as important for the show as they used to be, Ross is in the spotlights again. That same year the actors decide to submit themselves for the category of leading actor - not supporting actor. What happend with "there are no stars, we're all supporting actors". Why suddenly, after eight years of being supporting actor, why are there suddenly lead actors??
David's known to take the initiative at negotiations and important decisions. Is it possible that although he isn't nominated, he thought to take his chance now that Ross's popular again?
