The Quezon City Polytechnic came into existence on March 1, 1994 by virtue of City Ordinance No. SP 171 under the name Quezon City Skills Training Center to undertake the training of skilled workers in response to the manpower requirements of industry and business establishments within the city.
The three-year Technician Curriculum was introduced in Academic Year 1994-1995 to develop highly competent technicians for industry in the areas of Automotive Technology, Electrical Technology and Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Technology, Fashion Technology. The following Academic Year, Electronics Technology, Mechanical Technology, Computer Technology and the industry-led pilot course Boiler Technology were added.
The Quezon City Polytechnic (QCPU) established its reputation among local government units as a show window and model technology-based institution paving the way for its recognition by the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) and for developing a strong alliance with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
In 2001, Ordinance SP � 1030 created a charter for the establishment of Quezon City Polytechnic University.
Under its present setup, meaningful access to higher education is envisioned. In Academic Year 2005-2006, the university started offering degree programs. The initial courses are Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurial Management, Bachelor of Science in Information Communication Technology and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.
This Academic Year 2010-2011, the university is in a huge transformation. The government plans to alter the physical appearance of the university: they will add and renovate facilities. Before this Academic Year starts the university Academic Department heads changed the curriculum of different baccalaureate degree programs offered by the university. Now the university offers Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship , Bachelor of Science Information Technology and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.
This coming Academic Year 2011-2012, the university will offer a new Engineering Degree program named, Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering. This degree will offered by the university so that the institution can sustain the deficiency of the Electronics Engineers in the country.
Right now, QCPU prides itself in providing employment to its graduates and serves as a tool for national development, particularly in Quezon City.
