In here I've listed some interesting information about various subjects on Pancreatic cancer. Here they are:
Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography: This is an imaging test in which a tube is put into the patients mouth, and all the way down into the bile duct. From there, the doctor sprays the a certian type of dye into the bile duct, which will later help outline the bile duct, along with the pancreatic duct in x-rays.
Recurrent Pancreatic cancer: This is a kind of cancer which keeps coming back even after the tumor has been removed. Treatment methods for this type of cancer follow the basic rules of metastatic cancer treatment.
Immunology: Clinics are currently testing treatment methods which concentrate on helping the immune system kill the cancer. Volunteers in these trials are injected with a vaccine, which tell the immune system's cells to kill the cancerous cells.
Matrix metalloproteinase inhibitors: These are drugs which focus specifically on blocking the enzymes created by the cancer cells, which destroy objects near the cancer, allowing the it to grow. Once these enzymes are safely blocked, the cancer should stop growing. The effectiveness of this drug is still being tested.
Anti-angiogenesis factors: Angiogenesis factors help blood vessels grow. Since cancers need new blood vessels to multiply, stopping these angiogenesis factors may kill off the cancer, once it has nothing to sustain itself on. Drugs made to stop these angiogenesis factors are currently being tested. |
