What Are The Pancreas?
The pancreas is gland found right behind the stomach. It is around 6 inches in length, and a little less than 2 inches in width. Within the pancreas are two other types of glands, which are the exocrine and endocrine glands.
The exocrine glands and ducts make up about 95 percent of the entire pancreas. These glands create pancreatic juice, which helps the body digest proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. The endocrine glands, on the other hand, only make up around the remaining 5 percent. These cells produce insulin and glucagon, which increase and decrease the level of sugar found in your blood.
