Social Structure

          Social structure is society structure in society life. It's characteristic are abstract, there is vertical and horizontal dimension. This vertical and horizontal dimension mean are differentiation (horizontal) that has level in it for example, rich and poor, young and old, meanwhile stratification (vertical) has four factor such as gender, religion, ethnics, and race.

      The elements of social sructure are group, culture, institution, stratification, and power. The function of it are as the base of discipline, as social cpntrol, and as the characteristic of society. Society itself has three form which are simple society, middle society, and modern society.

      There are three form of social strucure. The first is based on it's characteristics. Those are supple (free to move), stiff (difficult to change), formal (accepted by government), and informal (exist but not legal, e.g. charismatic leader).The second is based on social inequality. There two types which are horizontal and vertical. Geographic, ethnics, potency, and social background are the factors of this inequality.The third is based on society identity. The first is homogeneus (life in the same faith, race and ethnics, e.g. Badui Tribes). The second is heterogen (variety, e.g. Indonesia).

      In differentiation, there are four form such as ethnics, religion, gender, and race. Race divided by four races, these arre Australoid, Caucasoid, Mongoloid, and the special race (Bushman, Ainu, Veddoid, Polynesian). Impact for this differentiation are primordial, ethnocentrism, and sectarian.

      Stratification based on wealthy, power, dignity, and science. It has "two big line", the first line is based on status (ascribed, assigned, achieved), the second is based on the role (role conflict and role strain).The characteristic itself are closed (can't move), open (have chance to go up), mix (both). It can impact life style, accent, housing, education, hobbies and recreation in society.
