"AUSTRIAN OLYMPIC SKI TEAM – GO HOME!"

On Saturday, November 17th, 2007, the official opening day of Sun Peaks Resort, so-called british columbia, klanada, members of the Secwepemc Native Youth Movement Warrior Society, and other Skwelkwek'welt Defenders went to Skwelkwek’welt (Sun Peaks) to confront the Austria Ski-Team. The Austrian skiers, some of the top skiers in the World are using Sun Peaks as their official training facility in preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Secwepemc People have stated firm and uncompromising opposition to Sun Peaks Ski Resort, the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, and most recently the Austrian ski-team’s use of their Ancestral Land and Traditional Territory.

In June 2007, a Secwepemc delegate held a Press Conference in Austria formerly announcing the Secwepemc Peoples opposition to the Sun Peaks Resort and the continued theft and destruction of their Land. He warned them that refusing to listen to the Indigenous Peoples requests would throw them head first into a heated struggle for Land and Indigenous (Human) Rights. Despite the Secwepemc Peoples demands, the Austrian Ski-Team officially refused to listen and Boycott Sun Peaks and they returned to ski on the Sacred Mountains, Skwelkwek'welt.

When Secwepemc Warriors arrived at Sun Peaks, on the opening day of the ski-season, they found the resort as bare as the mountains they are clear-cutting for their expansion. Proving that this mountain resort is not just about skiing, it is a front for the lucrative Real Estate Inva$ion and illegal theft of Un-Ceded Native Lands.

Secwepemc confronted several members of the Olympic ski team demanding that they "Go Home and never return to Sun Peaks." The Olympics, as with, Sun Peaks Resort is a symbol of the white power structure and their need to destroy more in the name of money.

We call on the World, Olympic Athletes and tourists to respect the Indigenous Peoples request not to ski Sun Peaks or visit KKKanada for the 2010 Winter Games.
