Born and raised in Akron, I attended King Elementary School, Litchfield Junior High School, and graduated from Firestone High School, Class of 1980. After high school, I worked my way through college, graduating from the University of Akron in 1992 with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration / Finance.

I am the President/Owner of Insurance Service Agency, Inc., an Independent Insurance Agency located on W. Market St. in Highland Square in Akron. I am currently active in a number of business trade groups, including the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), The Independent Insurance Agents of America, The Independent Insurance Agents of Ohio, and The Independent Insurance Agents of Northeastern Ohio, of which I am a Past President. During that time I chaired the local qualifier at Good Park for the IIAJC (Independent Insurance Agents Junior Classic, for golfers age 17 and younger), and marshaled at the IIAJC State Tournament. I also participated in "Think About Tommorrow, Drive Smart Today", a program aimed at 15 & 16 year olds.

In addition, I have participated in various community activities, including the Highland Square Development Association (Festival). I am active in the King School PTA, currently as a member of the PTA Finance Committee. I co-chaired the PTA Playground Renovation Committee, organizing the construction of the playground equipment using all volunteer parental help. I actively participate in the annual PTA Fundraising Auction.

My wife and kids are my hobbies and interests. I enjoy family activities including, camping, hiking, exploring, skating, fishing, swimming and boating. I am a rabid Cleveland Indians fan (a 100th year anniversary pennant would be great!!). I enjoy following Akron U Zips Basketball, and I follow stock car racing. I also like playing with the internet - I created this web site as well as my business web site! 
I married the former Kathryn Ann Cox at St. Vincents Church in Akron in September 1987. Katy and I reside in Highland Square with our three daughters Ali, Lindsay, and Casey. All three of my daughters attend Akron Public Schools. All three attended St. Pauls Preschool.

My parents, one sister, and my brother reside in Akron. My other sister lives in Grand Rapids, MI. My parents both graduated from public schools, my Mom from Cuyahoga Falls High School, and my Dad from Ridgewood (West Lafayette, OH) High School. My sisters and brother all graduated from Akron Public Schools.

Katy's parents, her sister, and both brothers reside in Akron. Her Mom and Dad graduated from St. Vincent-St. Marys High School. Katy, her sister, and brothers all graduated from Medina High School.

Education is very important to both sides of our family.
