Chapter 22
The girls sat quietly in the jail cell, waiting for their heroes to rescue
them. Kimmy and Ann sat on one side of the cell playing cards. Sherry was
standing up, next to the bars singing, "Nobody Knows the Trouble I've
Seen."
The Double A's were on their sixth plan of escape as each one crazier then
the other. Caz simply paced. Sidney and Emily sat on the other side trying to
find the words to explain what happened. Emily iced her swollen hand as she
told Sidney her fears that she would lose her job over this. Sidney kept
looking at her shiner in the grimy cell mirror. "How am I going to cover
this
thing up?" she said leaning in close to the mirror examining her eye.
"I
don't think that there is enough makeup in the world to cover this up." She
pressed the bruise gently and whenced. Sidney also feared what Bailey would
do. Totally disown her? Alex was sitting on a chair in the corner of the cell
while a paramedic put a clean bandage over her stitches. She had 5 stitches
put in to close the gash. "I think I still have some stage makeup lying
around. That shit can cover up anything. Trust me." She said. The
paramedics
got up and checked Emily's hand.
"I think that it might be broken." He said.
"Wonderful." Emily said sadly.
"Alex, remember to keep those stitches clean." Alex saluted him as he
turned
to leave.
"How long have we been in here?" Emily asked looking at her watch.
"I hope Andrea found the guys. I need to get home. God, the Kavanaughs are
going to be so upset." Sidney said putting her head in her hands.
"What did I
do?"
"You stood up for yourself and your friends. She started it, Sidney."
Ann
said looking up from her card game.
"Damn right, she did." Kimmy said. "Go fish." She said
smiling.
"She had it coming, Sid." Emily said patting her arm. The door to the
cell
opened as the officer stood staring at the ladies.
"Charges have been dropped, you are free to go." Said the rough man as
the
girls cheered.
"Oh, Thank God." Emily said standing up.
"Well, my American sluts, it has been a night to go down in history. Thanks
for the great night." Astric said as the girls began hugging each other.
They
started filing out and saying good-bye to one another.
"I hope this Mark guy is worth it." Sherry said hugging Sidney.
"What?" Sidney asked.
"Isn't that why you fought Briana. She took your man. Women like us have to
put sluts like her in their place." Sherry smiled.
"Well, Mark is a lucky guy. He has a bad-ass girlfriend." Anya said as
the
Double A left the building.
"It was very nice meeting you." Caz said to Emily and Sidney.
"Hey, Caz!" Alex yelled. "You and me...next time. The stage is
ours." The two
laughed and then hugged good-bye.
The room was empty as Emily, Sidney and Alex stood looking at each other.
"I wonder how pissed they are?" Alex asked.
"We will soon find out." Emily said as she led the threesome out of
the cell.
They walked down the long hallway in silence getting closer to their doom.
The girls kept their heads down as they entered the lobby, trying not to make
eye contact.
"Well, if it isn't our little lawbreakers." Bryan said smiling. Alex
lifted
her head. "Alex...what the hell happened to your eye?" He took her
face in
his hands, inspecting her face. He looked to Emily and then her hand. "And
you?" He looked at Sidney, who had lifted her head revealing her black eye.
"Christ, you too, Sid?"
"Bryan, we're fine. Just a few bumps, bruises and stitches." Alex
said,
touching her bandage.
"What happened to girls night out?" Bryan said laughing.
"Look, Bry, It wasn't our fault, she started..." Bryan reached out for
her as
he took her in his arms and kissed the top of her forehead.
"I thought you were a school teacher and not a wrestler." Kian said
laughing.
"It's not funny, Kian Egan." Emily said hitting his arm.
"Oh baby, how does your hand feel?" Kian said smiling as he took her
in his
arms. He lifted her swollen hand to his lips and kissed it.
"What the hell!" Mark said as he entered the room. He had lingered
behind to
clear things up with the owner, so he wouldn't press charges. Mark grabbed
Sidney and pulled her into him. "What did that bitch do to you?" Mark
said
holding Sidney tightly.
"Mark, I am fine. Really.... it looks worse then what it is." Sidney
said
softly as her face was buried in Mark's chest.
"No, you are not fine. We need to get you to the hospital. Are you hurt
anywhere else."? Mark pulled her back as he examined Sidney.
"Mark, she is fine. Besides, she kicked some serious ass." Alex said
laughing. "You have a bad-ass girlfriend."
"So, you are a bad ass now?" Mark said finally smiling as Sidney
returned the
smile as he once again took her in his arms. "Remind me to never piss you
off."
Andrea found the guys at the smallest hole-in-the-wall pub, almost totally
smashed and tried to explain to them everything that happened. She told them
every detail of the fight and everything that was said. She even told Mark
what Sidney said before she hit Briana. Even in his drunkenness, it brought a
smile and chills down his back. The fact that Sidney wanted to make him
climax and she was right, he only thought about Sidney the whole time he was
with Briana. After telling the guys and getting them somewhat sobered up, she
went home to Shane. Home to tell him what happened and somehow tell him that
he was about to be a father.
Sidney pulled away from Mark finally as she could see Michael standing behind
him.
"Michael!" Sidney yelled and went to him. Mark and Kian turned around
to see
who this Michael was, they both stood dumbfounded. The resemblance was too
much for them. Their faces turned white as they stood looking at the man.
"Bloody hell of a shiner. Are you alright?" Michael asked taking
Sidney's
hand. Kian and Mark let out a soft sign as they heard his English accent, it
wasn't Michael.
"Yes, I'm fine." She said smiling.
"Who are your friends?" Michael asked.
"I'm so sorry, how rude of me. This Kian Egan, Bryan McFadden and Mark
Feehily." Sidney said as Michael shook hands with each one.
"It's Michael." Bryan whispered.
"I know, that is his name. We met him at the club tonight." Alex
whispered
back.
"No, Alex. That is Sid's dead husband. That's him." Bryan said as Alex
just
laughed at him. He had to be joking. There was no way that this guy could be
Michael. Michael was dead. But the way that Bryan was staring at him had Alex
kind of spooked. Mark and Kian saw so much peace and comfort in Michael's
touch and smile.
"Do you have a ride home?" Michael asked after shaking the men's
hands.
"Yes, Mark will take me home." She said smiling. Kian and Emily said
their
good-byes and went to the car so that Kian could nurse Emily and her hand.
Bryan escorted feisty Alex to his truck while she told him the whole story,
in detail. Sidney and Mark lingered inside with Michael. They talked about
everything until finally Michael said he had to leave. Mark turned to lead
Sidney outside as Michael softly touched Mark's shoulder. Mark turned around
to see Michael but in a different light. There was a glow about him,
almost...angelic.
"Mark, don't forget your promise. She needs you." Michael said
smiling. He
squeezed Mark's shoulder and winked at him. Mark stood stunned, he blinked
his eyes to find Michael gone.
"Mark, are you alright?" Sidney asked touching his arm.
"Yah, I'm....fine." Mark said leading her to his car.
"Are you sure you are fine?" Sidney asked: Mark opened the door to the
car
for her, still stunned.
"Sidney, I am so sorry that Briana did this to you tonight. I feel so bad
that she had to be such a..."
"A bitch. Mark, it's ok. It felt good and she had it coming for treating
you
the way she did." Sidney said taking his hand in hers.
"So you fought her for me?" Mark asked taking her hand and moving her
closer
to him.
"Well...for you and for ..." Mark seized Sidney's words with his lips.
He
waited for her to pull back, for her to slap him, for her to walk away but he
felt her actually relax in the kiss. Sidney wrapped her arms around Mark's
neck, pushed up on her toes and got lost in his kiss. Their lips lingered in
the moment; their tongues met in the middle as Mark softly stroked Sidney's
back. It was the most passionate and perfect kiss ever to be performed in
history. A slight breeze blew between them, a breeze in the still of the
night. A warmth surrounded them as they both melted in the kiss. A soft
laughter was heard in the distant as Mark and Sidney never broke from the
kiss.
