Chapter 1

"Mark, Mark....earth to Mark....Can you come down out of your space ship for a minute?"

"What....Oh, sorry Jenn, I was...never mind just forget it." Mark Feehily looked at his bestfriend of 10 years. Jenn had moved to Sligo when they were about 10 from Canada. Her parent's had just gotten divorced and her mom didn't have enough money to support her, her three brothers and her two sisters. So they moved to Sligo where her mother is from.

Jenn interrupted his thoughts. "You were looking at that girl over there weren't you?" She playfully punched Mark in the arm.

"No I wasn't, I swear, I was, I was...."

"Admit it Feehily or I'll break your arm." By this point Jenn had Mark's arm locked around his back.

"Ok, Ok, I was....."

"Hey, free shots on Feehily." A voice interupted. It was one of Mark's best friend's, Bryan. He never thought he would say this, but he was glad that Bryan had showed up and was hitting him in the stomach. At least now he wouldn't have to admit he was staring at the girl across the room from him.

"Ok, Bry, you can give it up now." Jenn got up from her position on Mark's lap, holding him down and shoed Bryan away.

"Hey, that's no fair. I was just getting started." Bryan whined.

"Well you'd better start running if you don't want a black eye." Jenn chimed in.

Bryan's eyes were wide with fear. He knew what she was capable of doing. He once tried to get into the same bed as her, and he couldn't pee for almost a month cuz of the punch she gave him in the groin.

But that was what Mark liked about her the most. She was not only beautiful and a great listener and friend, but she could also hold her own. She was different than most of the girls Mark associated with, and that's what had attracted him to her ten years earlier.

As Bryan ran away, Mark knew that he would have to fess up to Jenn. He could never lie to her. There was something in her eyes that just wouldn't let him do it. He was a wimp any ways when it came to women. His whole life, he had no trouble talking to guys, but when it came to girls, even his own mother, Mark tried to stay out of those situations.

"So, Mr. Feehily. Who was the girl you couldn't keep your eyes off of all through lunch?" Jenn insisted.

"I dunno who she was, she's just a girl."

"Just a girl, Mark. I had to ask the waiter if you had ordered chicken soup with drool, cuz there was so much of it in your soup." Jenn asked.

"I swear Jenn, I don't know who she is. I just saw her today. Honest. You know I couldn't lie to you." Mark looked at his friend with his puppy dog eyes, and did his best impression of a dog whine. It didn't work.

"That's a load of craic if I've ever heard some. Even I know who she is, Mark. What do you think I've been hiding under a rock for the last two years? That was Branna Garan." Mark still looked confused. "You know, the girl from England. She sings all of those really nice ballads, and all the guys want to get down her drawers cuz she's such a goody-goody...."

"Oh My Goddd!!!! That was Branna Garon? I knew she looked familiar. I can't believe it. I saw Branna Garan. I can't believe she's here. What's she doing here?"

"She's probably on vacation like you guys are?" Jenn played.

"Very funny, Jenn. But she seems more like the type to go to Spain or the Bahamas or something. Not Australia. Listen, I gotta go tell the guys that I just saw her. Kian is gonna shite his pants that he didn't wanna come to lunch with us." Mark walked off smiling to himself, leaving Jenn with the check. She didn't mind though. The only thing on her mind was how she was gonna get Mark and Branna together.
