Claire's stomach was in
knots by the time she landed at Dublin
Airport. What if Shane's family didn't care for her? He said she was
dating him not his family but their opinion was so important to him.
All she could do was hope for the best. She stepped off and found
Shane waiting with a dozen peach roses, her favorite. There was a
small gathering of people around him waiting to see who he was meeting
but he didn't care. He had to have her in his arms right now, crowd be
damned. "Shane, I have missed you SO much" Claire said as he reached
her and pulled her in for a kiss, "You are a sight for sore eyes. It
seems like years instead of months". They were oblivious to anyone
around,"Shane, are you crying?"she said as she wiped his cheek,
"No, it's you blubbing all over me silly" he grinned and grabbed her
hand, "Let's go home". Claire was glad to only have her carry-on
to worry about as they made their way through the crowd to get
to his car. "Ooh, I get to ride in the Beemer. This is posh!"
"Is that what you're most excited about? My car?", "No. I really
can't
wait to learn to ride a horse. That and I've missed...the other lads".
Shane sighed and drove off feeling giddy she was finally here. He
didn't lie about the beautiful countryside and Claire had never seen
so many sheep in her life. They ate lunch in a lovely little pub and
walked through a little village. It would be nighttime by the time
they reached Sligo so they'd be heading straight for the Cafe. "No
time to worry" she thought to herself as they went through the door,
she couldn't have been more wrong. It seems half the town of Sligo was
squeezed in the place. All the lads and their families and most
everyone Shane knew was there. He took her straight to the bar where
his parents stood."There you are." Mam Filan said hugging her little
boy, "We were getting worried about you. Come here for a hug sweetie."
Claire was a little thrown, she couldn't have expected a warmer
greeting from his family than what she got. Although she did feel a
little like a horse they were thinking of purchasing. It made Claire
so happy to see Shane glowing with pride. He was so in his element
laughing and joking with everyone and Claire knew she was in love with
him. This was something she could get used to very easily. "Hey, where
are you? You look kind of knackered, you want to head home?" Shane
asked stroking her hair. "Sure, I am beat. Where am I staying?" she
asked,it never having been dicussed. "My room and I'm on the couch".
Claire was about to say she'd take the couch but he put his finger to
her lips."It's just for the night. Tomorrow I'm taking you to my
favorite place in all of Ireland."
