***Chapter 2***

Four years prior

It could not have been a more perfect day in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The sun was incredibly bright and there wasn't a cloud in they sky. A gentle breeze ruffled the girls' hair as they soaked up the sunshine. The doors and windows in the house were thrown open, the radio was blaring the sounds of summer, and the three girls were discussing their upcoming vacation plans.

"Come on, C. This is our last summer before we graduate." Said Anna, as she paced up and down the room. "We have to do this."

"Take the whole summer off? We can't do that." Claudia was sitting at her desk trying to get her lab homework done.

"Yes, we can and we should." Anna walked over to the desk and shut Claudia's book.

"I have a big test tomorrow. Do you mind?" Claudia opened her book. Kori walked in with a towel around her head. She had just returned from a rehearsal for the school play.

"Tell Claud what a great idea this is, Kori."

"I think it's a great idea." Kori agreed, as she removed the towel and began brushing her hair.

"What about your play?" Claudia asked.

"There really aren't any good plays this summer. Besides, I thought about taking a break from acting."

"See, K thinks it's a great idea. We need to do this Claudia," Anna added. "Who knows what will happen after we graduate. Who knows where we will end up."

The three girls met their first year at Harvard. They were scared and excited freshmen, ready to face the world head on. Anna Gabriel was from Arizona. Her red hair matched her attitude, as she was fiercely independent and straightforward. Claudia Sommerfield was from Idaho. Shy, blonde, and out on her own for the first time, she was slightly taken aback by the bustle of Harvard. Kori Masters completed the trio. The brunette of the group, she came from Missouri, ready to conquer Cambridge and everything there was to offer. The three of them came from different backgrounds but they bonded from the beginning.

Now they were in the home stretch of their college careers. Anna hoped to graduate next May with a teaching degree, Kori with a degree in Theater and Music, and Claudia with a degree in Psychology. Anna was right, their future together as friends was uncertain. They knew what they wanted out of life but none of them was sure where their paths would lead them. The three were inseparable and had supported each other in everything; tears, laughter and accomplishments. But not knowing what the future held scared them.

"C, this is the last time we will be able to do this. We finally have freedom and we have to seize it." Anna said, still trying to convince Claudia.

"Anna, I was looking forward to working with the new chimps we are getting in the lab this summer."

"K, tell her." Anna pleaded.

"You can work with some real chimps in Florida." Kori said laughing.

"I just don't know, guys. I don't think my family..."

"We're doing it!" Anna yelled interrupting Claudia. "I have made the decision and we are going to Florida for the whole entire summer." Anna laughed and Claudia knew the decision was made. She was going to Florida.

Anna and Kori continued singing in harmony to the song blaring on the stereo. Claudia sat in the back watching the world pass. She tried not to think about school, her future or anything but the beauty of the Florida countryside whizzing past. She closed her eyes and listened to the music. "Who is this?" Claudia asked.

"This is the group that Anna saw in Italy in February." Kori said handing Claudia the CD cover.

"They're great." Anna added.

"C'mon, they're just another one of your boyband obsessions." Claudia teased, opening the booklet.

"Westlife is NOT just another boyband." Anna quickly replied, jumping to their defense. "They have amazing voices and they're gorgeous. Plus, they're Irish. Can it get much better than that?"

"Yeah, they're cute, I guess." Claudia said, becoming more and more convinced as she thumbed through the pictures.

"Cute? We have a Westlife virgin with us, K. We must educate her in the ways and wonders of all that is Westlife!" Anna said laughing. "Oh, wait!" She yelled as she turned up the volume. "I love this part. That's Mark singing."

"I thought you liked Bryan!" Kori said.

"I do. I will always love Bryan but you can't deny that growl of Mark's is incredibly sexy!"

"I think Kian's hot." Kori said as she sang along.

"This guy is pretty cute." Claudia said as she pointed to his picture.

"Ah, good taste. You chose Shane, the heartthrob." Anna said as she finished he song in harmony with Kori. Claudia leaned back in her seat as she listened to the song. She started laughing to herself. She was on her way to becoming another Westlife fan. She closed her eyes and let the wind blow through her hair. But surprisingly, all she could see was Shane's face. His smile and his eyes just seemed to reach out to her. "Stop daydreaming, Sommerfield! Don't even think about it!" She berated herself for thinking about someone famous like him. As if she even had a chance...
