Shane walked into the photo shoot and immediately saw them
together.
Kristen was sitting on Nicky's lap, playing with his hair. He said
something to her and she giggled in response. 'That should be me,' was all
Shane could think.
"Hey Shane, how you doin'?" Brian asked when he saw
Shane walk in. Kristen
and Nicky had already told he, Kian, and Mark everything.
"Good as I can be considering I'm completely gutted.
She ripped the heart
out of my chest and tore it apart Brian. Do you have any idea how much
that
hurts?"
Brian gave Shane a hug and said, "No, I don't but I do
know that you'll
find somebody else Shane. She wasn't the one. Just look how happy
she is
with Nicky, he's the one she needs to be with."
Shane looked over at her, smiling and laughing. Her
green eyes were all
lit up, like stars. The smile on her face could light up the whole world.
He had never seen her like this.
"She does look happy," Shane finally admitted.
"Happier than I've seen her, and she's known us
forever," Brian said.
"She's known us so long she still spells my name with an I."
Shane laughed. "It has been a long time."
Then he sighed. "Maybe it is
time to let her go Brian."
Brian patted him on the back. "That's the right
thing to do Shane."

"This is Kristen Wellington, back to start another week
on the Eye Opener,"
Kristen started her show. She played a few songs and then the phone rang.
"Hello, fm104," she answered.
"Hi Kris." He didn't need to say his name,
Kristen knew it was Shane.
"What do you want Shane?" She wasn't in the
mood to fight with him again.
"I was wondering if I could make a request."
She sighed. "I won't play "Get Another
Boyfriend" by the Backstreet Boys
Shane."
"That's not what I was going to ask you to play Kris.
Just, listen to "The
Arms of the One Who Loves You" by Xscape. And pay attention to the
words,
because it's what I want, what I need, to say to you." With that he
hung
up.
Now Kristen was curious. She dug out the record and
played it.

Kristen went to the signing as soon as her show was over.
Nicky started to
walk over to her, but she held out her hand to stop him. Shane was sitting
with his back to the door and didn't see her walk in. Kristen simply
wrapped her arms around him from behind and whispered into his ear.
"Thank
you Shane."
He bought his hands on her arms and held her there.
"If he makes you as
happy as I think he does, then I have to let you go. But I'll always be
here for you Kristen, always."
She kissed him on the cheek. "I love you
Shane."
"I love you too Kris, so much that I'm letting you
go."
She just hugged him then. "Someday, you'll find
what I have Shane, I
promise."
He just sighed and let her hold him. He knew she was
right. His true love
was out there, somewhere, and someday he would find it.
After a few moments Kristen let him go and walked over to
Nicky. Shane
turned and watched her wrap her arms around him and give him a long, deep
kiss. A strange sense of peace overcame him, as he finally realized just
how happy she truly was with Nicky. Shane could only hope she would stay
that happy with Nicky, and if she wasn't, he would always be there for her.
