Kristen woke up a few hours later and noticed Shane wasn't
lying with her
anymore. She got out of bed and stepped on something. The box of
Nicky's
letters. It was shoved halfway under the bed. She knelt down on the
floor
and opened the lid. One of the letters had been wadded into a ball.
She
knew what happened.
She ran to Shane's room, calling his name. "Shane!
Where are you?" she
hollered as she flung open his door. No trace of him. All of his
things
were gone. "No!" she cried out as she sank to the floor.
"No, Shane, come
back. I can explain."
Kristen had been sitting on the floor crying for several
minutes when
someone knocked on the door. She ran to open it. "Shane, I knew
you'd�Nicky." The hope in her voice was gone the instant she saw
him.
"What's wrong Krissy?" Nicky asked. She
didn't bother to fight him as he
pulled her into his arms. "It's ok Krissy, you can tell me."
She simply
sobbed on his shoulder. "Here, let's go inside." Nicky led
her back inside
and sat her down on the couch. He just held her as she cried. He
softly
stroked her soft blonde hair and kissed her forehead. "I'm here now,
everything will be alright."
Kristen looked up at him with so much pain in her green eyes.
"It's
because of you that everything ISN'T alright Nicky. Shane left because he
found your letters."
Nicky got a surprised look on his face. "You kept
the letters?" he asked
shocked. He thought she had only thrown them away. She never wrote
him
back, or let him know that she knew how he felt.
Kristen simply nodded to him. He gently touched her
face and wiped the
tears away. "You have no idea how much that means to me Krissy."
Then he
softly kissed her lips. She began to pull away but then she kissed him
back. Something deep inside of her told her she needed to be with Nicky.
Kristen was tired of denying how she felt about him, tired of keeping it
buried inside. She'd let it all out once, and now she wanted to leave it
out for good. She ran her fingers through his hair and pulled him closer
to
her.

Nicky pushed her back. "We should stop this
Kristen."
"I don't want to Nicky. I want this, I want
you," she said as she slowly
began to unbutton his shirt, softly kissing his chest after each button she
undid.

As much as Nicky wanted
her, he didn't want it to be part of revenge.

she pulled off the
sweater she was wearing.

He picked her up and carried
there. He laid her down on the bed and took off his jeans before he joined

Afterwards, Nicky cradled Kristen in his arms as she softly
ran her fingers
over his chest. "This is how I always imagined it would be
Nicky," she
whispered into his ear.
He wanted to ask her about Shane, but he didn't want to spoil
the moment.
"I'm sorry it wasn't the first time Krissy. I promise I'll spend the
rest
of my life trying to make it up to you."
Kristen put her finger on his lips to silence him.
"Let's not talk about
the future Nicky, let's concentrate on now, this moment. Because what we
have right now is so beautiful, it's so right."
He took the hand she was holding against his face into his
own and planted
kisses all over her palm. "These are the moments that make life worth
living Krissy. Lying in bed with the woman you love, knowing that�."
"You love me?" Kristen interrupted. She had
implied that from his letters
but she never expected him to say it to her.
"Yeah, I do," Nicky said as he slowly laid her back
down against the bed.
"And I intend to show you just how much I love you right now."
He softly
kissed the base of her neck and then began moving his lips down her body.
Kristen just lay there and allowed herself to escape into the ecstasy that
his touch provided.
