Chapter 7

The next day, Westlife and Sweet Reverie got together to begin recording
their collaboration.  After much deliberation by Louis and Sherry, it was
decided that they would cover "Summer Nights."  Everyone was very excited,
except Dawn, who was told she and Mark would be singing the leads and
therefore had to get along.
"I can't work with him!" she whined to Sherry.  "He is so infuriating!"
"It's just sexual tension sweetie," Sherry consoled Dawn.  "Once you two
hook up, you'll think he is God's gift."
"Agh!" Dawn screamed.  She wasn't about to ever hook up with him, not after
he slept with that skank-ho songwriter Hilary.

Bryan was quite upset that he and Aine were not singing the leads on the
track.  After all, they were engaged and it made perfect sense for them to
be singing a love song together.  Bryan was determined to prove Louis wrong,
so he began writing with Bryan Adams on the side to find the perfect duet to
sing with Aine.

Shane was a bit happy he wasn't going to have to sing leads with Kimmy.  He
had been afraid that he would have to, which would mean spending way too
much time with her.  He had almost slipped at the release party, and he
wasn't about to again.
Kimmy had felt like crying when she saw the look of relief on Shane's face
when it was announced that Mark and Dawn were singing together.  She had
hoped that last night was a sign of good things to come in the future, but
she must have been wrong.

"And just what the hell were you thinking last night?" Dawn yelled at Mark
the second he entered the recording studio.
"I, uh, what are you talking about?" he asked, completely shocked by her
question.
"Leaving the party with Miss "I sleep with anything that's Irish" Hilary."
"We're friends Dawn, we understand each other," Mark coyly answered, liking
the fact that Hilary made Dawn furiously jealous.
"You whore!" she screamed at him and ran out.  J just happened to be
standing outside, and wrapped her into his arms as she flew out of the
building in tears.
"Woah, Dawnie baby, what's wrong?" he asked as he wiped her tears.
"Can we go someplace and talk?" she cried.  He nodded and took her to his
hotel room.

"Well, Dawn's gone," Sherry announced as she walked back into the studio.
"But we can still record the background vocals."
Everyone moaned.  They were hoping there would be no work today once Dawn
took off.  Then Aine's face turned green.  "'Scuse me," she said, rushing
past everyone towards the bathroom.  Once inside she puked her guts out.
"Dammit," she bitched as she wiped her mouth.  "It's all Bryan's fault...or
is it Ronan's?" she pondered.  Aine wasn't sure who the father of her baby
was, but Bryan was her fianc, so she prayed it was his.

Everyone sat around, waiting for Aine's return, listening to the radio.
Then Evan and Jaron's latest hit came on.  "Hey Shane, it's your theme
song!" Kian jokingly announced.
Shane rolled his eyes as the lads all laughed at him.

Once again I just can't get it straight
Wondering if wandering is my fate
But don't lose hope in me quite yet
'Cause help must be on the way, any day

Kimmy smiled as she recognized the song.  'Maybe Shane does like me after
all,' she wondered as he glanced at her for a few seconds, then looked away.

From my head to my heart
Can't seem to find a way, they're so far apart
It's not you; it's not your fault
You've got everything I could ever want
And you've always understood my intentions were good
And we've been so close from the start
But the furthest distance I've ever known is
From my head to my heart

Shane looked at Kimmy again.  She was still watching him, smiling.  Damn
her for looking so cute.

I feel the distance standing here next to you
I don't want to keep you waiting, but I've been waiting too
Some day if I get there and you still want me too
We can see it through

"Can we go talk?  Alone?" Shane asked Kimmy.  The others all snickered a
bit and made little comments under their breath as the two walked over to
the corner of the room.

From my head to my heart
Can't seem to find a way, they're so far apart
It's not you; it's not your fault
You've got everything I could ever want
And you've always understood my intentions were good
And we're been so close from the start
But the furthest distance I've ever known is
From my head to my heart

"What do you want Shane?" Kimmy asked, knowing everyone was watching them.
"I wanna do what I was gonna do last night," he answered and leaned in and
kissed her quickly on the lips, then pulled away and ran out of the room.
