Hello!! Some of the more observant amongst you may have realised that I am updating the wrong fic tonight! That’s cos I’ve decided to change my days round … from now on Follower is Friday and Popular is Tuesday.  I don’t know why but Follower just seems more of a Friday fic – I always find myself wanting to update it on a Friday!   Also I will admit that the change around has happened this week as I am a bit behind on Popular and didn’t have anything ready for today – don’t worry will have something by Tuesday!

OK, onto Follower … afraid this is one of those dull morning after type chapters.. hope it isn’t too tedious!!

Chapter 28

Sitting up in her bed she pulled the duvet tight around her.  She had tried to go to sleep but had now given up, she had far too much to think about and her head was buzzing.

He didn’t love her.

She knew that now, there was no way that he loved her not after what they had just shared.  She had thought it would be all so much easier than that, that she would get him upstairs and that he would fall into her arms and confess how he felt for her.  Instead she had had to throw herself at him until he eventually gave in.

And then it had started.  He had moved on her so roughly with no feeling, not that it had hurt her physically, it felt wonderful, but it was all wrong and it had hurt her inside, there was no way that sex like that was anything other than some quick meaningless thing with someone that you had no feelings for.

He didn’t love her – he loved Ella.

But the thing that was really worrying her at the moment was whether or not she still loved him.  The love she had felt for him was so strong, was it just going to switch off after what had just happened or was it still there?

“Christian” she whimpered quietly to the night’s sky.

Struggling to her feet she moved across to the mirror on the wardrobe door.  Pulling her face close up against the glass she repeated herself again.

“Christian”

She watched her mouth as it moved around the shape of the word – the one little word that could always bring her so much happiness.

How was it making her feel right now?

She certainly didn’t feel very happy.

She screwed up her face and glared at her reflection.

“I love Christian,” she told herself firmly.

It still sounded so right as it rolled off her tongue, the words hanging in mid air and feeling her with a warm glow that made her tingle all over.

Her feelings for him hadn’t changed at all, she loved him, may be even more than she had done before, now she had tasted what she could have she wanted more.

Surely it was still possible, there must still be a way that they could be together.

She couldn’t just turn off what she felt for him and as long as she still loved him, there was always a chance that he could learn to love her, they could still belong together.

It wasn’t really even a matter of they “could” belong together, because in her mind Mel knew that they did belong together.

She had known that from the very first moment that they had met.

It had been a few years ago now that Mel had first met a1, it had been outside some small venue back in the days when they were still playing under 18s night clubs.  She hadn’t even heard of them back then, it was Karen who had come up with the idea, she was always tagging onto new boybands and running off to meet them, a1 had been her latest thing and Mel had been determined not to like them from the outset.

She had been right to hold this prejudice.  When they stepped out of their prev in white trousers and matching primary coloured vests she knew that she had made the right choice, this was a boyband in its cheesiest form and she wanted nothing to do with them.

The first member she remembered seeing was Ben, admittedly he was pretty hard to forget, with his dark curtained hair and bright blue eyes it was obvious that this was to be the heartthrob of the group.

After Ben had passed Mel had rapidly lost interest, if she remembered rightly she had even started routing through her bag for her lipstick.  In those days she had been wearing a rather unattractive shade of coffee, she had always known that it didn’t really suit her colouring but all the other girls at school wore it so who was she to argue.

So she had been routing around into the depths of her bag and when she had looked up she had seen something that had quite literally taken her breath away.

He was amazing, like something that had dropped straight from heaven and landed right at her feet.  This surely had to be a present from God, he had meant her to have this perfect angel that was standing silently before her.

She desperately wanted to speak to him but all she could do was grin.

His blonde curtained hair shone in the sunlight, his eyes locked straight into hers and his lips curved up into a cheeky dimpled grin that made her tremble all over.

The connection had been amazing, as their eyes had met their souls had made that important link, knowing that one day they would be united as one.

Ever since that day she had saved herself for him, knowing that he was the one, it had seemed pointless letting anyone else into her life.

So when David Glover asked her out a few months later she knew the answer had to be no, it hadn’t even been a hard decision to make, she knew that her body and heart were made for Christian and that meant that no one else got to touch.

For all these years she had been saving herself, keeping her heart, mind and soul pure for the one it belonged to.  She had believed that he was doing the same, until “she” had come along and ruined it all.

Gabriella had swept in, stolen Mel’s destiny and tainted it with filth.  Everything about Christian reeked of Ella Buckfield.  Mel couldn’t look into his eyes and see love anymore, all she could see was a fog of confusion, a fog created by Ella and keeping her away from the one she loved.

The fog had to be moved.

If Mel didn’t have Christian then life wasn’t worth living.  He was the one – her soul mate, her one true love, the person she had wanted with so much of her heart for years and years.

She had to have him.

Mel slumped down on the floor, her legs out in front of her.  She examined them through squinted eyes.  As she made her vision go blurry she could make out little dark blemishes all over her skin, marks where he had touched her just a few hours before.  Dirty marks.  She had let him touch her when Ella was still controlling his mind, she should never have done that.

Taking off her pyjama top Mel began to scrub the material hard over her leg, rubbing and rubbing at the little marks all over her skin, forcing them to go.  They had to go so she could start again.  This time it had been all wrong, she had forced him into doing something that he wasn’t ready for, she needed another chance, she had to be clean so that she was worthy of his love when he was ready to give it.

When her legs began to show long red strips Mel stopped rubbing, putting the pyjama top back over her head she stood up and moved back over to the mirror.

There had to be a way for her to make Chris realise that he wasn’t supposed to be with Ella.

She had to attract him somehow, make him realise what he was missing.

Mel sucked her stomach in and examined it in the mirror, she probably could do with loosing a few stone, she was at least two clothes sizes bigger than Ella, and Christian obviously didn’t like the larger woman.  Then maybe when she had enough money together she could get a boob job, she would be the perfect carbon copy of Ella and Christian would be as good as hers.

But for now plan B would just have to do.

Oh yes there was a reserve plan, the first one hadn’t worked but Mel had plenty more up her sleeve, she was never going to give up until Christian was hers again.
