Can anyone be everything to everyone
and still be who they are?

There offering comfort to one in distress,
lending an ear when one can't suppress.
answering questions so another makes no mistake,
doing a 'Florence' with every sniffle, sneeze or ache.
arrange, organize and pull it off with style,
be the one that makes them laugh and smile,
yet be ready to turn and wipe away a tear,
all competing for time throughout the year.

Can you give lifes' meaning to another,
when yours can seem to have so little?

There are many roles to play in our daily life,
whether a mother, lover, friend, sister, neighbor, even a wife.
or maybe a student, employee, writer, artist, or a volunteer
each role demands multiple duties it is clear.

Can we be good at all of them,
or must one simply lapse?

Which one do you side line?
How do you choose where the focus will shine?
With everything going to everyone else on loan,
will there be any left to claim your own?
