It was a busy night at the Crashdown.  Liz realized she hadnt finished closing the register when heard the quiet persistent staccato of someone at the door.

It must be Max.  I have to put him off somehowget some distance for a while until this whole Vegas thing blows over.  If I am with him alone nowI couldnt help myself.

The quiet staccato was quickly turning into a loud banging and ringing.

Im coming Max.  Just a minute.  Liz took off her antenna and quickly smoothed down her dark hair and opened the door.

There is Maxs gorgeous face.

Liz

Listen Max I have this really killer headache and I just dont think I am up to any reading or anything else tonight

I didnt come here to study for biology.  Liz, I came to talk to you about what happened in Vegas but well, Liz, now there is so much more.

More?

Liz please let me in.  We need to talk.

Talk, no Max.  Like I said

Liz, I know.

Know?  Lizs heart began beating faster.

I know about Kyle

Kyle?  Okay, now I am starting to sound like a parrot.

I know that you didnt sleep with himthat is.

Ohh.  Liz paled.

Liz, please let me in.

Liz stepped back from shock as much as to admit him entry.  He knew.

Max thought he could smell her breath.  It smelled sweet--like cherries and gingerale.  He could feel his stomach rumble.  She is so beautiful, like a queen.  I am thirsty for herI want to breathe her in, drink her down, drown in her

Max closed the door and did the one thing he wanted to do more than anything since he left Kyles house.

He grabbed her tightly to his chest and he kissed her.

And all of his questions, all of his dreams were answered in the visions of their kiss.

Here With Me

I didnt hear you leave
I wonder how am I still here
I dont want to move a thing
It might change my memory

Oh I am what I am
Ill do what I want
But I cant hide

I wont go
I wont sleep
I cant breathe
Until youre resting
Here with me
I wont leave
I cant hide
I cannot be

Until youre resting
Here with me

I dont want to call my friends
They might wake me
From this dream
And I cant leave this bed
Risk forgetting all thats been

Oh I am what I am
Ill do what I want
But I cant hide

I wont go
I wont sleep
I cant breathe
Until youre resting
Here with me
I wont leave
I cant hide
I cannot be

Until youre resting
Here with me

Liz heard the radio alarm go off.  Didonice way to wake up. Liz thought--just not yeettt.   Liz snuggled closer to her warm pillow.  Reluctantly, she lifted an eyelid to peer at the digital clock on her nightstand.  6:00 am.  Almost time to go to school.

Sleep.  Me want more sleep, Liz thoughtdreamily. She nudged at her pillow, hugging it a little more tightly.

Then she heard something.

It groaned.

Oh my gosh, thats not a pillow.

Liz opened both her eyes this time.

Max!

Umm Max growled as he rolled over on top of Liz.

And then it came flooding back to her.  Max was with her at the Crashdown last night. And he kissed her.  And that was it.  And there were no more boundaries left between them.  Nothing.

She remembered there had been no words between them at first just two hungry mouths, the ecstasy of lips, touches, breaths mingling together, quickening their blood.  It had been so longed since they had touched like that.  And their bodies, their minds, their hearts, their souls were desperate for one another after such a long hiatus.

She knew Max had all the answers now.  That night she saw the visions he saw as he kissed her.  He knew about Future Max.  He knew about the set up with Kyle and he knew whyand it didnt matter.  No explanations were necessary.  That was what was so profound about being loved by Max Evans.  He just wanted to be with and love her.  Trust and forgiveness were no longer an issue.    Afterwards, they had held each other and it had become very late so, he had said he would go upstairs with her to her room and just tuck her in.  And he did. He tucked her in with great tenderness.

When he tried to leave he couldnt.  He said, I cant get myself to leave Liz.  I dont think I can bear it.  Never again, Liz.  I will never spend another day away from you or a night.  I want to make love to you and be with you tonight But I want to do it the right waylike the way I saw we would bein Vegas..

Outside the chapelmarried? Liz finished.

Yes

I saw things tonight.  Things I want to explain, but its all so complicated.  For now, all I want to tell you is this that the bond we made the day I healed you made us inseparable for life.  The day I healed you, you became my bride.  You were the first onethe first one in this life that I ever healed.  And you were the first one I have ever loved.  I have always been waiting for you Liz Parker.  You are The One.  If I am a King, then you are my Queen.

Max!

I know it is all so soon

So, he crawled under the covers and held her, stroking her dark locks lightly until she fell asleep and he, with her.  Arms interlocked with arms, legs interlocked with legs, hearts interlocked forever.

And here she was, wide-awake now in the light of day.  If it was a dream, she never wanted it to end.  She didnt want to move.  She felt breathless.  She loved the delicious feeling of Max lying next to her, almost on top of her.

Liz was enraptured.  Every part of her tingled, pulsed with joy.  She couldnt help but to adore him, stroking his face, his hair, his arms while he slept.  She couldnt help herself as she gave in to the desire to start counting those adorable curly eyelashes of his while he dreamed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And Max was dreaming...

A door had opened.  He was in the Great Library.  He opened The Book of the Sentient Stone and saw the ancient text in front of him.  The words, at first foreign and undecipherable lay upon the page like an inert thing with no meaning.  Max focused, looking deeper into the strange colorful patterns, until he began to understand.  New words emerged in a moving ancient language, a familiar tongue.

The Pages spoke:

A dethroned king, betrayed by one of the Royal Four, will give up his life so that others may be spared.

He, along with the Royal Four,  will be reborn in another world.  Through the rebirth the King will find the fifth, known as The One.  Union with The One through the healing ritual will power this granolith and mark the beginning of a journey toward victory.

Neither victory in war nor your desire for your soul mate will come easilyBut when they come, they will come hand in hand.

Together, your past life will meet with your new one.  Here treachery can metamorphisize into loyalty, despair into joy as the traitor that doomed you may truly turn toward the good of the people.

Trust your heart.  It will know The One.  Peace will come only from this pure heart and this pure communion with her.  The One will complete the royal seal of victory and restore your throne on Antar through the power of the granolith.  And, many worlds will know peace.

Max opened his eyes to see Liz smiling at him.  He thought he heard her whisper 24?

Max suddenly realized that everything had changed in just a day.

Liz, you are really here.

Yeess

Liz, I just had a dream.  I think it was real

I saw you dreaming she smiled.

You know, you are The One I have always been waiting for.  I knew it the first time I saw you on the playground at school.

Liz looked at him, her eyes becoming softer, her smiling becoming bigger with each moment.

Liz,  Will you marry me?

Liz took a deep breath.

Yes, Max, I will marry you.
