A Day, A Song, A Dream, A Destiny Subtitled: Relief During the Hiatus By Nancy L. Thornton Disclaimer: Roswell, its characters and the like dont belong to me, no infringement intended. Synopsis: This is for those of you who are going insane due to the Roswell hiatus. This story is also for those of you who are as hungry as I to see Max and Liz back together. The story starts immediately after the episode Viva Las Vegas. Mythology is inherent. It answers a lot of questions about Max and Liz and their connection to one another (and also deals with Tess issues). You will see Max, Liz, Tess, Kyle and a bit of Maria in this story. It has been therapeutic and helped me get me through this dry spell of No Roswell! I hope it helps you too. Rating: PG-13 Story Line Type: Max/Liz Email Address: [email protected] Part I: He Doesnt See Me from Sarah Brightmans Album La Luna M&L: Goldman & Romannelli\ English Lyrics: Read, Ingebrigsten Marazzi & Adams adapted by Frank Peterson Published by JRG/Renn Prod When he passes me by, hes a ray of light Like the first drop of sun from the sky. And I know hes a king, who deserves a queen. But Im not a queen. And he doesnt see me. When he dances, he moves me to a smile And I see everything near him shine. Theres a grace in his ways that I cant contain I havent that grace Oh I havent that grace, Im not a queen. And the closer he gets I cant help but hide My feelings so ashamed that my body speaks. There are boundaries we pass in spite of the war But our own, we cant seem to cross. She has a way that surrounds her so delicate-strong With a glory that reigns in her life. She is also so much that she is not These things, I cant see Because he doesnt see me And he doesnt see me. There are things we can change, If we just chose to fight. But the walls of injustice are high. When he passes me by hes a ray of light. Like the first drop of sun from the sky. And I know hes a king who deserves a queen. Someone other than me. So different from me. He doesnt see me. He doesnt see me. He doesnt see me. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Liz, honey, open up sweetie I can hear you playing that Sarah Brightman crap you know what it does to youI hear your sniffling in there. Come on Liz and tell Auntie Maria what is wrong! Liz reluctantly opens the bedroom door and lets Maria in. Honey, o-m-gosh! Look at you! Youre a wreck! Lizs eyes were red and swollen and her face was all blotchy from crying. Her hair hung unkempt about her face and, she was still wearing the clothes from the trip home from Vegas. Honey, do I even have to ask Its Max isnt it? I almost told him in Vegas, Maria. Im not sure I can stop myself any longer Max had a vision. He saw us outside of the hotel chapel. We had just gotten married. Thats why he came back that night to dance with me. Oh-m-God! Liz! This is remarkable. Liz, honey you have to tell him. You cant keep this lie up anymore. Its like killlllling you. Yeah, but then, there is Tess and Max, Future Max, I mean. You know what I told you. When he came to me he said Tess was crucial to the war and if we let her go if Max and I get married itll hurtshit I mean kill a lot of people we care about.. Honey, I can t say what the future holds and neither can you.. Okay, maybe this is waaay cornybut, here it goes. I can only see the truth, not the past and definitely not the present. You and Max belong together! And , Tess I think she is finding many reasons to stick around. Kyle is one of those reasons.. Did you see the way he was looking at her in Vegas? No. Well, of course not, you were all goo-goo eyes for Max. Tess has a home and maybe even a boyfriend. I think Kyle and Tess would look well kind of cute together in a barfy kind of way. Liz, come on Take a shower and get dressed and Ill drive you to school! When you see Max tell him that you want to talk. Listen to me, I have your best interest at heart. Maria, I wish what you were saying was true. Maxs destiny, his bride, his queen is Tess. Without her, none of us can survive and I cant live with that. Tess, with her strength and powers can help him in ways I never could. She is all that I am not. And I cant compete with their past or his need for her in the future. Im just a girl from Roswell New Mexico. I wish I could go back to sleep and forget about reality. Just go to sleep and dream about the way things might have been. Okay, Im up. And youre right Maria. Maybe Ill talk to him today. Ill go get ready for school. Ill just be a few minutes. Thanks Maria. Liz put up a front and hugged her friend soundly before heading toward the bathroom into the shower. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He was walking toward the cab when a newlywed couple passed him. It was something about them, there, looking so happy, that attracted his attention. He couldnt disconnect himself from the emotions pouring from them. At first, he was confused he had picked up on two strangers feelings so strongly. Sometimes when things get intense, heightened, he would feel things, see things. This seemed different. The scene, the feelings, reminded him of something. It was a shadow dancing on his memory. It was obscured or hidden so that he couldnt quite reach it. His focus intensified as he watched the bridegroom pick up his bride and swirl her around in traditional celebratory fashion. And as the happy couple swirled, a new picture emerged. What was once just some unknown bride and groom on the streets of Vegas turned into he and LizThey were the bridegroom and bride swirling laughing kissing and holding one another. It was their day. Max saw a moment of blackness and felt his body in motion. The blackness swept away and a new scene emerged as he came to a full stop. He and Michael were sitting inside the back of a black limo... riding down the streets of Vegas, Destination Unknown. He exhaled slowly, disappointed that he lost the blissful beautiful fantasy of Liz to the rugged edgy vision of Michael. Oh crap he had jumped in the middle of one of Michaels rampages. Today Michael was playing psychiatrist/interrogator. Couldnt MichaelAKADr. Love -- just once let something go? Michael opened the portable bar and looked up at him. Max buddyyou know Im not big on lets go over our options kind of thing but how do you feel about Shirley Temple? Would you like one now or maybe in awhile? Or perhaps, you would like some more of the Pia Colada? Michael said pointing to Maxs hands. Max looked down at his hands and couldnt find anything in them. I dont remember ever having a Pia Colada. He had heard of the drink but he couldnt remember ever having one, and definitely -- not lately. As if to answer a question yet unformulated, mystically, an aftertaste burst into his mouth. It was sweet and spicy, cool and smooth. Was the sensation, the taste, the Pia Colada? It seemed a familiar wonder, like the shining big dipper that was always there when you looked up into the sky. And one couldnt help but to wonder about it. Suddenly, just thinking about the drink made him feel kind of thirsty for it. Yet, he still couldnt remember it. Maybe he wanted another? Again, he suffered another moment of the blackness and felt himself in motion. And, again, a new vision emerged at full stop. Max realized he was now standing in a hotel room with Michael. They were wearing their boxer shorts (with little ---no, correction --- giant hearts on them!) He looked down at his boxers and then looked up at Michael and laughed. Michael just shrugged and said something about it being Marias idea. They had to wear them or it just wouldnt be romantic she had said. Max realized they were expected to be wearing tuxedos over those romantic items in about 24 minutes; but, he couldnt find his penguin suit! He began to feel panic building inside him. What if he lost this opportunity? It was their wedding day! Max felt confused. Their wedding day? He checked his shirt pocket. Yes, the rings were still there. At least he knew that there was one thing he could count on. Michael were almost out of timewe have to get dressed and get there before its too late! Michael cocked an eyebrow and gave him one of those insidious looks and said, Well, what are you gonna do now Maxwell ol buddy? Then he heard a siren go off. A siren? The loud rattle of the 6:00 am alarm on the bureau startled Max awake. He rolled over and banged it to a stop. It was time to get dressed, go to school and forget about crazy dreams. Max shook his head and began to laugh. Maybe it had been Moms meatloaf from last night? No. It wasnt the meatloaf. There really had been the trip to Vegas. And there really had been a vision of he and Liz. He knew what he had seen. And, it was that vision of them as newlyweds that brought him to the dance floor -- into Lizs arms. He knew, too, what he had been told. That Tess was his bride, and his final destiny. Time seemed important now. He couldnt go on with things the way they were. Not with Liz, not with Tess. Sometimes it is hard to move forward with the future until you could figure out your past. It was time to talk to Liz about Vegas |
