One of the earliest lessons that people
should learn is that it is infinitely easier to be pleasant and
co-operative than it is to be selfish and to work alone. The morose
spends his day in single-handed endeavour, allowing long and tedious
hours to pass without observing even the amenities of the day.
Whereas the man who is friendly starts the day with a smile, carries
on with a quip of pleasantry, and is ever ready to share the moment
with the other fellow.
In which atmosphere would you rather work,
or in whose companionship would you rather be? The answer, of
course, is obvious. We arent churlish folks ourselves. We are
friendly and pleasant and cooperative, so naturally, we want to
associate with others who will be friendly to us. In fact, we should
like to be entirely surrounded by just such kind of people, because
we know that if we were so surrounded, our future would be a very
pleasant one, indeed. For, like begets like and goodwill begets
goodwill. A friendly world will breed friendly people.
