WHAT GOD CAN DO
When Stuart Hamblen was narrating how God
changed his life, John Wayne was in the audience listening to
him.
At one point John asked: What is the secret?
The immediate answer that came out from Stuarts lips was: It
is no secret what God can do.
Later John Wayne took these words and wrapped them up in a
beautiful melody, which became a religious song so popular as to
reach the hit parade.
It is still sung today, so many years after it was composed.
Indeed, it is no secret what God can do for anyone who trusts
Him and goes to Him in prayer.

DRINKING
One day Dr Johnson was
conversing with Mrs Williams, a blind friend of his. She was
telling him where she had dined the day before, There were
several gentlemen there, said she and I found that there had
been a good deal of hard drinking. She closed this observation
with a trite moral reflection: I wonder what pleasure men can
take in making beasts of themselves!
Dr Johnson replied, I wonder madam that you have not the
penetration to see that he who makes a beast of himself gets rid
of the pain of being a man.

REGRET
Vasari
relates that when Leonardo da Vinci lay on his death-bed the
King came to visit and cheer him. He raised himself as far up as
he could in the royal presence and lamented that he had
offended God and man that he had not laboured in art as he ought
to have done.
