Understanding Mothers

Motherthe word itself has so much energy and vibrancy that it can hardly be substituted by any other. Language cannot express the power, the beauty, the heroism, and the majesty of a mothers love! Hence, there is the famous Jewish saying, "God cannot be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers".

A mother is a person of magnetic charm. She is the uncrowned queen of a home. Her work never ends. She has to meet the needs and demands of her husband, children, the elderly and the sick at home. She has the special knack of doing two or three things simultaneously. She actually works even on holidays when her working family relaxes, away from their busy work schedules. Apart from all her tasks, a mother also undertakes the responsibility of staying in touch with God through prayer to ensure that He is kindly disposed towards her family.

The sad fact is that there is no acknowledgement for the kind of work a mother does. Ask her husband what his wife does at home. Ask her children the same question. They will most likely say, "Nothing special. Shes just a housewife!" How can a mother feel worth her while when all those who are close to her believe that day after day she is doing just nothing?

The month of May is dedicated to all mothers and to show our genuine love and respect towards them. Hence, we should confess as Lincoln once confessed, "All that I am or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother." Sajith Parappallil
