INSPIRING ANECDOTES
Socrates’ Last Wish
Socrates (470-380 BCE) was sentenced to capital punishment by poisoning. Two of his disciples, Phaido and Creto saw this and burst into tears. Socrates then told them: "I sent away the women so that they may not disturb me by their weeping. Have pity on me and allow me to die peacefully."
After taking the poison, he was pacing in the room. Weakened, he collapsed on the floor. His last words to Creto were: "I have a debt. I owe a cock to Esclipiyase. Please give it to him on my behalf."
"I shall certainly do that. Is there anything else?" inquired Creto.
There was no reply. His master had entered the land of no death. — Thomas Kudakkachira
Accept the Reality
Roosevelt, one time president of America, had poor eyesight from birth. In spite of this, he became a very good hunter and a voracious reader. Even when he lost the power of hearing in one ear, he could recognize the chirps of a variety of birds. Even when his nerves were giving him terrible pain, he never gave up writing. At last when doctors confined him to a chair, he said, "If that is so, then I shall try to live in this state." — J. Maurus
