Asking for my country

If I had to ask for my country,

I would have asked, not to make the poor people rich,

But to find a few rich people who does not mind

sharing with the poor.

If I had to ask for my country,

I would have asked, not for a saviour

who fights the violent,

But a saviour who would make the violent

realize that he would have been superior

not in hurting but in forgiving his enemy.

If I had to ask for my country,

I would have asked,

not for a living programmed robot,

But a teacher who knows that

knowledge is not fully attained if

moral education is overlooked and neglected.

If I had to ask for my country,

I would have asked, not for a preacher

who knows his Scriptures well,

But for a preacher to preach that to shed

human blood is found in none of the religions.

If I had to ask for my country,

I would have asked, not for a voice

which enquires the names of people,

But a voice which would tell the people

that they are all human beings.
