SUMMARY: Hercule Poirot goes through his mail one day and discovers an urgent request for his services from a Paul Renauld. When he and Captain Hastings go to Paris to see Mr. Renauld, they discover that he has been stabbed to death on his own golf course. His wife tells an extraordinary story about two bearded masked men and their demands for a mysterious secret. The case is shrouded in further mystery when a second corpse comes to light. Poirot must untangle this complicated web while having to put up with an egotistical French detective who is also investigating the murder.
