The letter is a vague, hysterical plea for a personal confidante -- typical of letters Poirot receives from elderly ladies. But there's one thing about the letter that Poirot finds strange -- it was written two months ago! The mystery is deepened further when he and Captain Hastings go to visit Miss Emily and find that she has been dead for exactly two months. Death appears to be of natural causes. Now, before he can solve a murder, Poirot must prove that one has occurred.
