The Fourth Clue is the Birdhouse Block
Instructions :

Fabric 1 - Use the pieces left over from Clue 3

Fabric 5- Cut one 4 1/2" x 8 1/2" rectangle.

Fabric 6- Cut one 2 1/2" strip width of fabric.

Fabric 7 - Cut one 2 1/2" strip width of fabric.
Get out the 4 1/2" x 8 1/2" rectangle of fabric 5.  Position a 4 1/2" square of fabric 1 on the corner.  Sew on the diagonal.  Trim & press open.  Repeat process on other end of rectangle making a flying goose.
Get out the strip of fabric 6 and of fabric 7.  Alligning long edges, sew the two strips together.  Press
Square up one end of this new strip.  Starting at the squared up end, cut into 2 1/2" sections.  You should have 12 units
Sew three of the units together LENGTHWAYS, as the diagram shows.  Repeat until you have 4 new strips all the same.
Sew these strips together, alternating the colors to make a checkerboard.  Press.  Sew the roof onto the top of the unit. Press and square up to 8 1/2 x 16 1/2".  You need to applique three 2" circles made of fabric 8 to let the birds in.  You can machine or hand applique them on, your choice.
