CLUE 7
The 7th clue is the Basket Block.  You will need to make:
3 - 6" finished blocks 
  (larger pattern at bottom of page)
Cutting Instructions:  ( for 3 - 6" finished blocks )
Light Scraps:
                Cut 2 - 4 1/4" squares, Cut twice on the diagonal (use only 6)
                Cut 6 - 3 1/2" squares
                                    
Dark Scraps:
                Cut 3 - 4 1/4" squares, Cut twice on the diagonal
                Cut 3 - 2 3/4" squares
                Cut 3 Bias Strips - 1 1/2" x 12"            
Assembly:
    Sew two 3 1/2"squares of background fabric together.  This is the top of the basket.  Make the basket handle by making a bias strip tube from a 1 1/2" x 12" dark scrap.  Applique the handle to the background squares.  Make sure that you remember to leave a seam allowance around the background fabric.  Follow the diagrams for assembling the bottom of the block, Then sew the top to bottom.  Refer to the diagram for assembly.  Square to 6 1/2"
Construction:
Dig out all of those half square triangles that we made in clue # 2.  lAy them out like the diagram.  Three rows of eight blocks and then two rows of two blocks.
Sew together :P
Cutting Instructions:  ( for 3 -  12" finished blocks )

Light Scraps:  Cut    2 - 7" squares, Cut twice on the diagonal
                              6 - 6 1/2" squares
          
Dark Scraps:  Cut   3 - 7" squares, Cut twice on the diagonal
                             3 - 4 1/2" squares
                             3 - bias strips 2 1/2" x 30"

Be sure to square up to 12 1/2"
