CLUE 13
18.  Cut out 10 random colors of 1 1/2" x 3 1/2".  Sew them together lengthways.  They will measure 1 1/2" x 31".  Larger pattern requires 10 randon cuts of 3" x 6 1/2"
19.  Dig out the basket/house section (step9).  Sew the strip (step18) to the bottom
20.  Sew this section to the friendship star section (step 17)
BORDERS
21.  Choose your inside border fabric
Small pattern - 1/2 yard
Large pattern - 1 yard

Small pattern - Cut 4 strips - 2 1/2" wide.  Sew a strip on both sides of your quilt (vertical). Sew a four patch on the end of a strip.  Sew onto the top of your quilt, stopping about 12 inches from the end.  Take the border strip and measure 1/4" from the corner (the corner does not inclue the vertical border).  Mark a line and trim.  Sew a four patch to the end and then sew the strip onto the quilt top.  Do the same for the bottom.  This method insures that you will be accurate.

Large pattern - Do the same as above except cut 8 strips - 4 1/2" wide.  Then sew two strips together and attach to the quilt.
OUTSIDE BORDERS
22.  Small quilt - cut random pieces 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" for outside borders.  You need 19 pieces for the right border, 19 pieces for the left border.  You need 17 pieces for the top and the same for the bottom border.  Assemble left and right borders and attatch to the quilt.  Assemble the top and bottom border and sew a nine patch to the ends.  Sew onto the top and bottom of the quilt.
Large quilt - cut ramdom pieces 4 1/2" x 6 1/2"
