Stripes Club, Halloween '03

Other Bands: Battleska Galactica, stanXa

Having learned their lesson from the shambles last time, our young heroes practised feverishly in the run-up to the biggest gig they'd ever played, the opening slot of the annual Mr Gig Stripes Club Halloween Party, in what in many ways, was a make-or-break gig.

At 8'o'clock infront of the already sold-out 250+ crowd at Stripes, The Whatevers took to the stage in darkness and ripped into a frenzied double-time version of The Libertines' 'What a Waster', followed by new, versions of 'Simon's Boat' and 'Wait and Bleed', with Jack showing off their all-new solos.

As the set went on, the Stripes crowd grew fonder of The Whatevers, with cheers growing after every song, a mass singalong to 'Kyle Bailey Blues Xplosion', and riotious new Sean-penned songs 'Toyboys Tramps and Whores' and 'The Session Men' prompting moshing all over the shop. The set was finished with 'Hate To Say I Told you So', featuring Sean climbing the Stripes speaker table, saluting the fans, and jumping off on the last chord. Wicked
