Covenant and And One
Two of the best bands ever!....in Mila's humble opinion
The best way I can describe these two bands is to recount a concert I went to.
It's Phoenix. Phoenix sucks. 5 of us rode up in a cab. That was kind of cool. My friend Matt drives a cab, and we all gave him 10 bucks to take us there. So it's me, Matt, Zoe, Brian and Jose (Jose is Mexican, but looks white.)We're standing in line. We have our tickets. It's taking fucking forever. JUST LET US IN! Bastards! Matt runs into his psycho ex-girlfriend, Heather. HI HEATHER! You're a dumb whore! I think the entire Tucson scene has come up for this. There's a small group of preppy people, which is odd, but they're cool. We've been sort of talking to them, sort of making fun of them. We've also been making fun of most of the people in this line. How can we not?
SO finally we're in. I find a lot more people that I didn't think I'd see up here, but it's cool. The Tucson and Phoenix people have seperated themselves. We've each taken a half of the room. Which is fine by most of us. It's silly, I know, but the girls in the Phoenix scene suck ass. They're all whoreish. Gother than thou. Bitches. I don't like girls much any way, but they're real low on my list.
I'm not paying much attention to this first band. They're not real good live. They have that sound that on CD they would be pretty decent, but their stage presence is highly lacking.
And One
They come on and immediately you know they own us. They radiate. You just want to be a part of them. They could probably tell us to go overthrow the government and we'd do it. They play and they sound just like they do on the album. I am forced to move. I must dance. The music has become a part of me and if I don't dance I'm going to explode. I've never danced at a concert before. This is an odd experiance. They do all the songs I love. I dance to every song. Why is the Phoenix half just standing there? They're cold like fish. It's sad. They're missing out. Almost the whole Tucson side is dancing. Moving at the very least. God, those guys are having so much fun! You can just see it! I love them!
Covenant
Oh my god, they're all attractive! Must get closer! Zoe and I make our way to the front of the stage. No dancing this time. We must be close to the Gods! His voice is beautiful. I don't think I've ever heard anything like this! I can't believe that I am this close to this! I think I'm floating. I know I'm smiling like an idiot. And acting like a complete girl. Oh my god. The keyboardist just touched me. (I'd like to add here that I'm one of two people he touched all night.) I thought that And One was awsome. This....this....this is like an earthquake in the soul. This is beyond anything that I have ever known. This is bigger than Bauhaus. They have the presence of a hungry tiger. They're eating up the reactions of the crowd. Playing off of it. Urging us on. I touch the singer. They do two encours. TWO!
The music ran through my veins for days afterward. I couldn't listen to their cd's because, god, how do you measure up? I couldnt listen to anything else, because I didn't want the feeling tainted. I was electrified. Moved. I must see them again!
