The Insight Speech Program

Attention Speech Therapists:

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: I am a licensed Speech Language Pathologist that has been working with young children (most of whom are of preschool age) for the past 9 years and have supervised students. I have always been into research and over the years have developed a nice library of materials on many topics pertinent to speech and language for young children. I also have compiled information on other areas such as sensory integration, attention, and behaviors related to young kids. I have written several e-books to provide the therapist with help with the clients, and teachers and parents. When I began my career I always felt that I needed more training in many areas which I have received through reading and conferences. I know that it can be difficult to obtain needed information for cases and deal with the paperwork necessary for your job. It may be difficult to "fish out" needed information while trying to deal with the demands of your job at the same time.

  • Answers to your inquiries regarding cases- Need suggestions on what to do with a particular child? Advice on how to work wiith difficult parents? E-mail Insight Speech with questions regarding your cases and the I will offer strategies and ideas that may help. You may also submit information for the Weekly Insight Speech Newsletter.

  • Answers to questions regarding report writing- Report time can be difficult and stressful and sometimes it's difficult to find the right words to convey what you are trying to say. E-mail Insight Speech with questions regarding wording, conveying a particular idea in a report, etc and I will return the email with suggestions. You may also email me a portion of a report that you are in need of help with.

  • Materials for your clients- Need information on a particular topic? I have a vast library of information and handouts. E-mail Insight Speech with requests for information and/or handouts on particular topics and I will return the email with desired information or handouts.

  • Weekly Insight Speech Newsletter- As a member, you will receive a weekly email from Insight Speech with an important "tidbit of information" - this will generally be a paragraph with tips on working with young children.

Please note: The info provided in this program is not meant to replace the information and expertise from your supervisor. It is recommended that you discuss all pertinent info with your supervisor. While Insight Speech can help regarding overall therapy questions and ideas, I will not have the ability to evaluate your client in person, and therefore specific information may be difficult to provide. You should always discuss all important information with your supervisor and adhere to the rules and regulations of your place of employment.

Information that I provide is advice. Each child is unique. You should incorporate the advice or materials with other ideas from your training and supervisory team. There may be some cases where Insight Speech may not be able to provide you with specific information on a particular disorder or type of case. I will always answer questions to the best of my ability. My answers may simply direct you to another source for more information.

It is imperative that you do NOT disclose the following information when corresponding with me:

  • Your place of employment
  • Any child's personal information (ie: names, school attended, family information, etc.)

When corresponding with me regarding a case, I will need the following information:

  • Therapy setting (ie: school, home, daycare, etc)
  • Child's EXACT age (ie: 4 years and 4 months)

Often, you will receive a response within a few hours, however, please allow at least 48 hours for a response.

Advice that I provide is for informational purposes only. It cannot replace the courses and conferences that are required for your CEU credits.
