The Quest to seek the Holy Trevor

By Mary F.

Trevor Cochran, the mystery man. The man that I could not find. "Trevor, Trevor!!" I screamed into the darkened 6th grade hallway. But there was no reply. As I walked away with my head down, I made it my mission, my goal, to find this mystery man. A few more days passed by, and my mission was slowly going downhill. Then my sibling, Alice, informed me of his 1st hour class. After one more day of not finding the mystery man, I sat down at my dining room table, very determined. I made a sign that read, "Mr. Trevor". I grabbed some sunglasses, and set them next to my bookbag with the sign close by. Early the next morning, I walked out the door with no "Mr. Trevor" sign and no sunglasses. When I got to the school, I realized my mistake. I informed my friend, Natalie, that we were to find this mystery man. As we skipped down the hallway chanting, "We're going to find Trevor!", different things ran through my head. 'Would this be the end of my quest?', I thought to myself. Also, I had "Mama I'm Comin' Home" by Ozzy Osbourne stuck in my head... but that is besides the point. I turned the corner, with a determined look on my face. AND I'M PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN WHERE AT LEAST I KNOW I'M FREE. "Trevor, Trevor!!" I screamed once again into the darkened 6th grade hallway. Only this time, I saw a boy jumping up and down, waving his arms. "Here I am, here I am!" he responded. I realized right then, that that jumping boy was the mystery man. THE mystery man. I called back for my friend, and I started running towards the boy. But as I turned to face his direction, I realized he was much closer than I thought. He jumped up and down, waving his arms, once again and repeated, "Here I am, here I am!" My face lit up, my eyes twinkling, my smile growing. I held my hand up, getting ready to receive the high five that I needed so desperately from the mystery man. As our hands met, I shouted "You're so cool!" It seemed like everything was in slow motion. So my voice sounded really low and it took really long to say and stuff... ANYWAY! I introduced myself as Alice's little sister. That made everything okay, of course. I realized then, that Trevor was the coolest 6th grader I have ever met, and its not like I don't know 6th graders. I'm talkin a big and bad 6th grader, here. He was unbelievably cool. Kind of like Yoda in Episode II.... He turned to us and explained, "I have to go to History now." I understood what he meant, and I let the not so mysterious man go. As he walked away, I turned around and jumped in the air. "I found Trevor, I found Trevor!!!" I skipped all the way to Mr. Hahn's class, and my day felt complete. Now my mission still continues. It has taken new form. My mission, my goal, is to have Trevor be my new friend. Not just a new friend, but a friend. I guess I'm not making it clear enough for all of you. But there is no way I can fix that problem. The bottom line is, I sought Trevor, all was good, and I have an improved mission, an improved goal. Trevor will be my new friend. It will happen. You'll see. And another thing that has happened since I sought Trevor, I'm a new person, I'm a new girl inside. Thank you and good night.
