Inside E-Wrestling News

Heat came at us last night from the Compaq Center in Houston, Texas. Without beating around the bush, let's get to the results.

The show started with a mysterious man talking in the background as he entered the building. He was apparently stalking Arthryn, and in the end, Arthryn ended up hearing someone outside of his door, and storming out of his locker room, extremely frusterated.

Odd way to open the show. This was kind of tough to follow, but interesting nonetheless. I guess the big question as this point is the identity of the man. Not the kind of segment you'd expect to start a show though.

Liger pulls up in his car, and walks into the arena.

WHAT? This just got really interesting.

Vinny D comes out to a largely face reaction from the fans, and proceeds to shoot on Tom Stone, talking about how he was promised the world, but has received nothing. He's interrupted by Eric Walther, who tells him that if he wants a shot at his International Title, he'll have to face Nomad tonight, with the winner getting a shot. Vinny D agrees.

Good stuff, though I'm not quite sure why Vinny D is getting cheered. I like him much better as a heel. Anyway, good job in setting up a Vinny D vs Nomad match for later on in the show.

Liger is seen in the back asking for Scott Hunter.

Hmmmm, I don't know what to make of this. Let's move on.

Myst d Travis Starr with Disposition.

The EWA has never been known for their wrestling, and this is a perfect example. Myst definitely does have a future though.

The mysterious man is now stalking Kyuma, getting within earshot, and speaking to him without being seen. He apparently wants Kyuma to follow in his ways. This leads to Kyuma stalking down the hallway, until he runs into Arthryn. The two men exchange words, lots of mind games going on, until a fight breaks out, and Kyuma leaves Arthryn laying. Somehow, a match between the two is signed for later on.

Really confusing and hard to follow, hence the weird phrasing of the recap. I'm confident that all of this is going to lead somewhere good, and I'm happy to see this feud being given so much airtime. You've gotta wonder who that mysterious man is though.

Divine d Shawn Rocker with Divine Intervention. After the match, Leon Sharpe hits the ring and attacks Rocker, only to have Divine and his entourage of misfits beat him down and leave him laying.

A basic EWA match, but good stuff afterwards. I really like Divine vs Leon Sharpe as a lower level feud, and it makes the North American Title actually mean something, which is a definite step in the right direction.

Holdon Raines "no shows".

Right, and I'm not Jewish.

Sakyo Kyuma d Arthryn after both men go through a table. After the match, the "mysterious man" and Kyuma work together, and take off Arthryn's bandages, only to realize that it wasn't Arthryn, just an imposter. Arthryn comes out of nowhere, and hits Light's Out Bitch on both of them. He takes off the mysterious man's mask, and it turns out to be Myst. Arthryn steals the Extreme Title, and leaves.

Great stuff. A good match, and a nice twist at the end. It was a little anti-climatic after building up the identity of the masked man the entire show, only to have him get one upped by Arthryn at the end. Enough nitpicking though, I love this feud.

Vinny D d Nomad via DQ after Walther and Nomad join forces, and destroy him. After the beating, which by the way was brutal, the two men cut a promo talking about past men in the EWA, and how what they have done is nothing compared to the path of destruction that will soon be blazed.

WOW, this came out of nowhere. Weren't these guys just feuding? In a sense, I don't like this because I was really looking forward to the continued Nomad/Walther feud, but on the other hand this should propel the two of them further up the card, which they both truly deserve.

Backstage, The Order barges into Stone's office, and starts bitching at him about getting a rematch for their tag titles. Out of nowhere, Hunter attacks from behind, and absolutely destroys them. He drags Doe out to the ring, and beats him down some more.

It looks like Doe and company aren't in the best standing with EWA, and were used as a way to get Hunter out to the ring for the following....

Hunter gets on the mic, and calls out Liger. Denial plays and the crowd erupts. As Liger comes out, Hunter gets the jump on him. He stops suddenly, as everyone realizes that it isn't Liger, but another imposter. The lights go out, and when they come back on, Holden Raines is standing in the ring over Hunter's lifeless body. The shows ends.

AWESOME swerve. I knew that Raines wouldn't no show, and I had a pretty good feeling that Liger wasn't really in the EWA, but I didn't put 2 and 2 together. I think it's great the way Raines used Hunter's obsession with Liger against him. For once, we have an interesting feud on our hands revolving around the world title.

OVERALL: Quite possibly the best show EWA has put on since it started back up again in August. GREAT angle work here, especially from the top guys. A really interesting show overall, and finally, the angles in the EWA are back where they need to be.
