Old School Revenge... 5:34 PM December 5, 2002 Posted By The Maestro |

| Well, now that I've gotten my "ish" together, you should see some updates more often (hopefully that's a good thing). Anyway, any "A Boy And His Blob" fans should enjoy the latest comic. And try not to be too pissed off about the whole emulator semi-dissing thing...hell, I myself use emulators (although I own all of the arcade cabinets I have roms for, um, not really) and I've found them to be a really handy way to play all of my classic SNES RPG's (Chrono Trigger, FFVI, etc.). Plus, where else can I play the original Rygar or Snow Brothers (both excellent NES games by the way)? Anyway, I realize that the latest comic is a little short, but if I were to add anything it would end up being too long, so I'll save its continuation for next week-ish...
In other comic news, I am very pleased to announce that Insert Coin has gotten very good reviews from the fellows over at the Top Web Comics Forums, and even better, Insert Coin has made it into the Top 150 web comics listing! We started out at the 150 spot, then after some cheap plugging on my part we made it up to 145, then 133 and last time I checked we're all the way up to the 95 slot, so I'd like to thank you all for voting, but don't forget to keep voting (you can vote once a day) if you'd like to support Insert Coin! Also, I'm going to try to set up a little online store shortly, so keep your eyes peeled for some Insert Coin merchandise! Due to Insert Coin's recent popularity I'm also looking into finally moving to a real domain with some real hosting. Right now I'm looking at insertcoin.com or In other news, what the hell is up with all of the remakes of classic games? First of all, I'd like to say that I'm all for these remakes and it's like a gaming wonderland for me, but I'm still surprised that so many of them (well, a couple) are coming out at about the same time. It seems to me that Spy Hunter triggered this now long running series of remake after remake, but it could be argued that it began way back when with Pong: The Next Level for PSX (which is an awesome game by the way and certainly worth a purchase). Anyway, I just find it very funny to see 6 remakes and have 5/6 be really worth owning. Of course, I'm talking about Toe Jam & Earl: Mission To Earth, Shinobi, Rygar, Contra: Shattered Soldier, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Activision Anthology (if I missed a major one, tell me). Now, while I haven't gotten a chance to really sit down and play it, Toe Jam & Earl 3 seems to be the one that I could live without (especially when I never played the first 2 until yesterday). However, the others (or at least their old counterparts) bring back fond memories of videogaming from the past. Well, I can't really think of too much to say about these games right now (and I'm a little anxious to just put this rant on the site and be done with it) so I'll talk more in-depth about these wicked bitchin' classic remakes in the next rant (probably). In the mean time, I'll try to make myself some money so I can buy all of these games... And finally, no rant would be complete without a mandatory wrap-up/beg for votes, so here it is: Please Vote For Insert Coin! I'll give you a cookie...and don't forget to visit Demockracy, where you'll soon be able to play "Wack-A-Taft", a neato game that lets you hit William Howard Taft with a hammer! |
