| ~ Zac ~ I cant believe I just sat here and stared at her as she left. I bet she thinks Im a major dumb ass. I said starting to get mad at myself. Zac, just go after her. Mac said, slurping at his huge ice cream. I guess that was all I needed to hear. I got up and ran. When I got out the doors I couldnt see her anywhere. She was gone, she had left and I hadnt even said goodbye, I dont even know her last name either. What the hell is my problem? Why am I being so stupid today? I swept a glance at my Jetta and smiled. The car next to it, a green Volvos back lights turned on and it backed out of the space. Candal! I shouted. I could see her in the drivers seat. So she was sixteen. I didnt know what to do so I ran to her car, shouting her name, anything to get her attention. I didnt have the slightest clue as to what I was going to do when I got it, I just knew that I had to stop her. Zac? She asked, rolling down her window. What? I really have to go. Whats your last name? I asked, the only thing I could think of. Her cheeks reddened. Taylor. And she drove away ~*~ At least she told you. Mac said as we pulled into our driveway. Taylor. Go figure. I said. Once I had walked back inside I felt a lot better about at least asking her last name. I figured from that I could at least get her number in the phone book, probably her address too. How was the ice cream? Our mother smiled at Mackenzie. Great, Mac just smiled and walked upstairs into his room. Zac, thank you so much for doing that. It really means a lot to your brother. My mom said gratefully. Its no problem Mom, I smiled. It means a lot to me too. Perfect son line. My mom scooped me up into a huge hug. You boys are growing up so fast, and youre turning into such gentlemen. She smiled, letting go of me. Oh, I almost forgot, someone called for you. They did? I asked surprised and hopeful. (Please be Candal, please be Candal). Yeah, Trevor Gamble. Told me to have you call him back before he leaves tomorrow for some trip hes going on. Ohuh, thanks Mom. I said disappointed. I trudged up the stairs to the third floor. How could I have thought it could have even possibly been her? She doesnt even have my number, and theres no way she could get the house number. Passing Mackenzies room I stopped and walked in. Hey Macky, I said, sitting down on his bed. Mackenzie was sitting in a beanbag playing on his Nintendo 64. Hey Zac He answered. His eyes didnt move off from the screen but I could tell he was still watching me. Candal was right, he really did look a lot like me. He had on a tight white shirt and dark blue khaki pants. Exactly like what I wear, only smaller. He wasnt scrawny either, not like Isaac and his sisters. But more of a cross between me and Tay, mostly me. Not real skinny, and not fat at all, just big, muscular big. Hey listen bud, I just wanted to thank you for being so cool about Candal. I said, while sighing at the same time. That was really cool of you. Oh yeah, the sweet little brother role huh? He laughed, No problem Zac, I knew that if you wanted her to sit with us then there must have been something special about her. Its cool. I had to try so hard to stop my jaw from dropping on the floor. This kid was only eight. Eight! But he sounded like he was eighteen. Hes definitely mature for his age. Plus, Mac laughed. Did you see the way she was staring at you? My eyebrows rose and I perked up a little, Oh really? I said, trying not to sound too excited. What do you mean? Well, for one thing, shes totally hot. Mac said, and we both laughed, I had to agree but it was hard to considering it was coming from my little brother. |
