Using Kidspiration.

We use Kidspiration for what we call, "Thinking Maps" or "Organizational Maps."

We use the "Bubble Map" to tell about what we know about a given topic or

to tell descriptive words about a given object. Kidspiration has been used

at our school for the life cycle of a butterfly, and the life cycle of a

plant. The children love the program.

Ant Farms

We ordered an ant farm for an ongoing and easy maintenance insect

project. We added sand we got from our playground. We also had to add 1

cup of water. The ants came in the mail in a plastic tube. Once we added

them, we watched them begin their tunnel digging process. Every day the

ants would have more tunnels added. We fed them 2-3 bread crumbs and sugar

water. We talked about and observed where the ants kept their food, where

they slept, and how they worked.

By MB.

"The ants have a queen. The ants only can eat a little bit of food."

By IR.

"Don't feed the ants too much. And don't move the

farm, it will fall in on the ants."
