HONEY BEES AND RELATIVES
The honey bee is not native to the Americas, it was brought by the settlers from Europe and it is perhaps the most active and efficient pollinator.
It lives in large colonies. The bumblebee, a relative of the honey bee, also lives in colonies, although not as large as those of honey bees, a couple of hundred individuals at most, and only the queens survive the winter..
