| Challenge: Sirius/Angelina Challenged: Skylar Inari Notes: So, here's a real attempt at Sirius/Angelina, see A Fly's Eyes to see a lack-luster attempt. Set, somewhere between book 4 and book 5 and at the end of book 5. Angelina's POV One Soft Kiss She shrugged into her coat, pushing back her carefully braided hair. Doing up her coat buttons with intense deliberation she avoided looking at his dark black eyes that rested steadily on her causing her hands to fumble. Smoothing down her coat front, she turned to the door, paused, took a deep breath, and said softly, "Well, goodbye." Turning the handle of the door, she swung her school bag over her shoulder. Before she could open the door strong arms engulfed her, holding her tightly against his warm body. She could feel his body tremble with suppressed emotion. He shut the door as she took her hand away and closed her eyes leaning her head against the oh-so-familiar swells of his chest. Strange how someone she had met by accident one cold and rainy day had become one of her most important people in the space of a few months. This room was the only place they could be together. The only safe place that they could hide out in. Nobody knew that she knew him. She hadn't told anybody, not even Katie and Alicia. Definitely not Fred. She didn't know how she knew he wasn't guilty of the crimes, only that he couldn't have ever committed what the Ministry said of him. The number of hours she had spent holding him as he cried, comforting him the best she could about things that had happened when she was too young to understand such things. He turned her around, gently (he was always gentle with her) and watched her face sadly, black eyes worried. She said nothing. They had both known it would come to this. It was too dangerous for them to continue meeting this way. Either of them could be caught, and what would happen then? No, it was better that they part until she had graduated. Then she would go to Dumbledore and tell him. She would work with the Order. Nothing else mattered if He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named was back except removing him from power again. She had no wish to live in a world where people like the Deatheater's held sway over the world. She'd push aside her chances at a professional Quidditch career if it meant getting rid of that horrid beast. In a little over a year they'd be together. That was what they had decided, no matter that she was about half his age or that he was wanted by the Ministry. Come what may after this year apart they'd be together forever, that was their dream. He smiled softly, in an attempt to hide his anxiety. As always, getting back to Hogwarts was the most dangerous part of their relationship. He could just floo out but she had to leave on her own two feet and if any of her friends saw her they'd want to know what she had been doing when for all they knew she was in her dorm sleeping because she was feeling off-color. He kissed her then, a soft caress of lips mingled with the sweet saltiness of tears both his and hers. Parting they both composed themselves, she smiled sadly at him and silently reaffirmed her promise to him. Then she left. Out into the icy rain that was coming down in sheets, suiting her melancholy mood. In a year they'd be together. *** A Year Later *** He was gone. She could feel tears coursing down her cheeks, as she fought not to make a sound that would awaken her friends. She hadn't been meant to hear Ron and Ginny's conversation, but his name had caught her attention. How she wished that she hadn't heard it now. They'd never be together, never fight against He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named side by side. What was she going to do? Their future had been together, and now she'd have to go on alone... Scared. She was scared. She wished she could stay in Hogwarts forever, be ever following Dumbledore's orders...no, that was the part of her that craved security. Needed to be sheltered and held safe against the darkness of the encroaching world. Drying her tears she gathered the tattered remains of her composure. She knew what she'd do. She'd join the Order, and work to get rid of the monsters that had cost her her most precious person. Sirius. The dog star. Ever loyal and strong and brave. She'd become like that. Lock away her fears and insecurities and do what they had planned. That was her goal. Achieve what had been most important to him, and live they way he would have wanted her to. And always remember their last soft kiss. End. Back to Book Fanfiction Back to Main |
