The Epsilon Gamma Chapter of Iota Phi Theta was estblished in the Spring of 2000. Saul Simmons had a plan to bring a new type of "Greek Man" to the yard. He would bring about the "Iota Man." After becoming an IOTA man himself, Simmons sought out potential centaurs on the campus. No one had any idea about centaurs moving in on the yard. Two curious men (Timothy Bush and NeKendric Davis) attended a smoker held by Simmons. After being informed about this great fraternity, they decided to journey into Iota Land together. Theses two men became the blood line for I Phi on the yard. Unfortunately, Saul would graduate that summer. Tim and NeKendric held it down as true neos and the Fraternity slowly continued to grow. One year later a Grambling State Univ. student (Jeffery L. Celestand) was introduced to NeKendric through a mutual friend. He showed a great deal of interest in Iota. He would cross that Spring semester during April, becoming the 'foundation for the Epsilon Delta Chapter' which has continued to grow in membership. Over the years the chapter has lived up to its principles and brought in more productive brothers such as Marcus Gaut and McAnthony Hegwood. Although small in number the chapter is still a force on the yard and region. We will forever continue to live by our motto: "Building a tradition.....Not resting upon one" |
