Chris Kirkpatric, the tennor of the group, had the orignal idea to start the group. So he called up a few close friends. Joey Fatone was working at Universal Studios when he met Chris who was also working there singing with a 50's doo-wop group. Joey and J.C. Chasez met through mutual friends and J.C. was working with Justin Timberlake on the set of the Mickey Mouse Club. Justin had shared a vocal coach with Lance Bass who was offered a part when a orignal member of the group droped out.
After they formed the group in October 1995 they still had to work to be noticed. "Everyday it was like a four-hour routine,"remembers J.C. "Joey would get off from work around nine o'clock at night and we would go in this warehouse and it would have mirrors and we would rehears from 9 to like 12 or 1 am, dancing and singing. Plus, during the day, we'd be doing vocal reheareals."
The guys were jumping on any preformance chances they got. After cutting a video demo it caught the attention of Lou Pearlman ('N Sync's current business manager) and Johnny Wright. To make a long story short, 'N Sync hooked up with some big time producers/writers like Denniz Pop and Max Martin. After rising to the top of the music charts in Europe, two years after they got there, the guys decided it was time to come home to America.
Their European influance didn't carry over the guy's homefront, however. When they arrived in America in March of 1998 they were virtually unknown. Their C.D. didn't even hit stores untill April! Four months later, after doing a concert on the Disney Channel in July, (which we're sure most of you caught) they practaly became international superstars and their American C.D. went platium.
