Chapter 8
The Truth

Chris, I have to talk to you, Chloe insisted early the next morning.
She had been lying awake most of the night, trying to come with a solution to her problem. Finally, around three-thirty AM, she had decided to just tell the truth. It was now four and Chris was rushing around the room that he shared with Lance, gathering all the things he would need for the day.
I know, honey, Chris said, but I cant right now. My public awaits.
Its really important, Chloe insisted.
Whatever it is, it can wait, Chris assured her. Did I ever tell you how cute you look in your pajamas?
Chris, I have to talk to you as soon as possible, Chloe told him.
I swear that my next free moment is yours my dear, Chris promised. Now I have to go. Enjoy your day off!
And with a kiss he was gone. Chloe sank to the floor. This was going to be harder than she imagined.

All day she waited for Chris in the hotel room. They were due back at three but at three-thirty she received a phone call from Chris telling her that she was going to be late.
We wont be back until six, he explained. Im really sorry, but we can spend the whole evening together.
Im going to go crazy in this place, Chloe thought as she hung up the phone.
She grabbed her purse, ignoring the few contents that fell out in her hurry to get out.

Chris hung up the phone. Chloe was great, so understanding. She was the perfect woman for him.
Chris, get over here, JC shouted.
Coming, Chris called back.
The rest of the afternoon was a whirlwind of photo shoots, rehearsals, and interviews. There was a mini concert in at five and then they were free for the rest of the day.
As soon as they reached the hotel Chris hopped out of the limo and hurried up to Chloes room. He knocked on the door and was surprised when there was no answer.
Hey JC, Chris called down to his friend, who was struggling with his electronic key two doors down. Do you have the extra key to Chloes room?
Yeah, JC replied. Hold on, Ill get it for you.
JC disappeared into his room, emerging a moment later with the electronic key. Here ya go.
Thanks.
Chris entered Chloes room tentatively. The room was clean except for a wallet lying on the floor. He leaned over to pick it up. As he did a few cards fell out.
You clumsy fool, Chris muttered to himself.
Something on the top card caught his attention. Chris stared down at the card in disbelief. Chloe has a lot of explaining to do.
