Chapter 10
It All Comes Out

Chloe knocked lightly on the door of the room that Lance and Chris shared. She waited nervously as she waited for one of the guys to answer it. By the time Lance appeared at the door her heart was pounding so hard she was sure he would hear it.
Hey Lance, she greeted him. Is Chris around.
Nope, havent seen him, Lance answered.
Oh, Chloe said the disappointment evident in her voice. Can you tell him I stopped?"
Sure, Lance told her with a smile.
Thanks. Chloe moved down the hallway.
When she entered her room, dropping her purse just inside the door, she was startled to see Chris lounging on her bed.
Chris there you are, she said. Listen we need to talk.
Yes, we do Miss Byrne. Chriss voice was cold.
Chloe was shocked. How had he found out?
Yes, about that, let me explain, she began.
No, Chris shouted. I trusted you! You lied to me!
If you would just let me exp-" Chris cut her off again.
I told you everything, Chris continued, and you didnt even tell me your real age.
Chloe opened her mouth to speak but Chris held up his hand to silence her.
No, I dont want to hear it! he bellowed. Everything we ever had was based on a lie!
Chloe sank to the floor. She couldnt speak. Chris' words cut to her the heart.
Next time you try this, Chris told her. Dont leave your ID lying in the middle of the floor!
She forced herself to her feet, chasing him down the hallway.
She pounded on his door. She was sobbing when a bewildered Lance came to the door.
Can I come in? Chloe asked.
I dont know, Lance told her glancing over his shoulder. Chris locked himself in the bathroom.
Dont let her in! Chris bellowed from behind the door. Tell her eighteen is too young.
Lance looked helplessly from the bathroom door to the miserable Chloe.
Chloe turned and fled back to her room, knocking into a puzzled Justin on her way. She pulled the door shut behind her and sank to the floor in a fit of sobs. Chris didnt love her anymore. She would have to except it. She knew just what to do.
Rising slowly, she made her way over to the hotel desk. Chloe pulled out a sheet of paper and began to write.
She sat back five minutes later, reading over the letter.

JC,
By the time you read this letter I will probably be gone. I think my presence is no longer appropriate or welcome on this tour. Tell Justin and Joey Ill miss their flirtations, tell Lance Ill miss his shy smiles, and if hell listen tell Chris I love him and Im sorry. Ill miss you too JC. These few months were the only times I was really happy. At least Ill have the memories. I dont want you to worry, so Ill tell you when I find a place. Dont worry, I always land on my feet.
Thank you for understanding when nobody else did.
All my best wishes and love,
Chloe

By the time Chloe had packed and called a cab she knew the guys would be asleep. She hauled her suitcase out the door and hurried down the hall, not glancing at the closed door that led to Chriss room. Hesitating only a moment, she slipped the note under JCs door, then she continued down the hall without turning back.
As the cabby was loading her suitcase into the back, Chloe looked up that the hotel. She located Chriss window with no trouble at all.
Goodbye my love, she whispered, before climbing into the cab that would whisk her away from the one thing that made her truly happy.
