Hiking Page

I have a passion for the outdoors, in fact, I would much rather be hiking right now than sitting at the computer. It's just the snow and ice outside that is keeping me in here. I've lived in Calgary for about three years now, and have found myself attached to the mountains. I spent the past summer hiking and camping as much as I could in the nearby Rocky Mountains. My favourite area is called the Kananaskis (can-an-ass-kiss). Some of you might recognize the name since the ski hill Nakiska, site of the 1988 winter Olympics is located in the Kananaskis. The Kananaskis region is very diverse, ranging from foothills to amazing mountains. This area is just east of Banff National Park. This coming sumer I am hiking the West Coast Trail. The West Coast Trail is part of Pacific Rim National Park. Parts of it, in fact much of it was once a rescue trail for sailors who were ship wrecked in the area. It is supposed to a grueling experience. I can hardly wait. My start date is Aug. 23, and I am planning to take seven days to enjoy this trail.

I'm hoping that this site will provide you with some useful information, and some interesting links.

Enjoy...
