Time in the Sky is a song about a friendship I had, which effectually began when an old acquaintance of mine came to me in a time of need. We shared closeness, emotional similarity, and intellectual bonds for a time until he made a choice towards a path of life involving a lot more drinking/weed than I am a fan of (hence the alcohol references in the verses). A lot of the character references are to his and my worst traits, with the verses about him from my perspective and the choruses about me from his. In the time that has passed since this song's conception, we have gone from close friends to people who hardly talk to each other, back to friends who enjoy each other's company. It serves as a reminder that even though I often write about the worse parts of situations, there is always something to look forward to.
